Chanel Spring Nail Polish

The Spring lineup from Chanel polishes was spotted at the show in Paris this week. Once again, they have produced colors that are sure to be big hits and new classics. Named April, May and June, the colors echo Spring blooms. Fuchsia, Rose and Tangerine – which apparently are slightly softer than they appear in this photo. I might have to break down and get June – it is my birthday month and the juicy orange could make for a great pedicure.

Priti NYC Soy Polish Remover Wipes

Selecting the MVP of my gift bag from #LuckyFABB was a no-brainer.  Upon returning home, my manicure was in less than stellar shape.  I went for the polish remover and not a single drop was left. This is a big problem, folks.

I dug through my stash and found two Nail Polish Remover wipes.  They were actually a delight to use.  I know – you must think I am crazy.  There is nothing delightful about this task. It smells bad, it is frustrating, it is messy, it smells bad (it was worth mentioning twice).   But these guys had no scent.  They were champs at getting off glitter polish and Nail Polish Appliqués.

While the solution was somewhat oily, it actually hydrated my cuticles rather than drying them out.  I could get all the polish on both hands off with just one wipe.  These will definitely be in my travel kit from here on out!

Essie Fall 2011 Collection

Essie’s fall collection is a homage to handbags – how could we NOT love it, right?  I’ve had a chance to try all these colors. The are understated but modern.  With, of course, Essie’s long-lasting and quality formulation.

  • Power Clutch: enigmatic darkest green.
  • Very Structured: creamy burnt sienna.
  • Lady Like: pretty, demure pink
  • Carry On: magnetic mulberry merlot

If the dark, merlot appeals to you, also check out this.

Velvet Nails at Ports 1961

I love this matte, velvet polish from butter LONDON for the Ports 1961 runway show today.  According to Birchbox, the base color is Chimney Sweep followed by their Matte Finish top coat.

“According to Creme, the matte finish over a metallic gives more depth and feels more contemporary than using it over a shimmer-free shade. It worked — the models’ nails has a sumptuous velvety finish”

Deborah Lippmann Dark Side of the Moon

What a little surprise at the bottom of my nail polish drawer! After taking a season off last winter, my Dark Side of the Moon was forgotten. So sad! I can’t believe the jewel tone trend this fall didn’t remind me of this shade earlier.

When I first purchased this polish, I was looking for an inky black, but it really is more of a deep aubegine.  It has a cream finish that looks shiny on the nail.  Prepare yourself with patience because this will take two or three coats.  Don’t freak out that it looks a little streaky when it is first applied.

This is the perfect “wine-colored” polish for a fall look – and it was in my drawer all along! Nothing better than when something you love is both timeless and trendy at the same time.

NARS Opaque Nail Polish in Galion

I have always adored OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark, so a statement polish in grey or black doesn’t really scare me.  That being said, I would also recommend this color for someone who hasn’t really gone to the dark side on their nails.

I love that Galion is softer than stark black, but still “stormy” evoking a cozy fall day.  I am so enthusiastic about this dreaded summer finally ending that I wore this color all last week.  At first it appeared very dark, but in the sunshine the grey really shined through. It is absolutely opaque with no shimmer. While the finish is glossy, it is a uniform color.

I hadn’t had much luck with NARS polish staying on, but the two coats, with a few touch ups, lasted from Thursday to Monday night.  It came off Tuesday when the chips became obnoxious.

Jewel tones are huge for fall, but I like that this color compliments the trend colors rather than being spot on wearing the exact trend.
