COLOR WOW Dream Coat Supernatural Spray

COLOR WOW Dream Coat Supernatural Spray on Belle Belle Beauty

I struggle with my hair. It is fine, but I have a fair amount of it. And it is crazy wavy underneath in the back, transforming to a highly unattractive frizz if not tamed. But because it is fine, my hair becomes limp and stringy if I overdo frizz fighters, especially frizz-eliminating shampoo and conditioner.

I was reading a celebrity magazine, lamenting my troubled hair (lol), and came across a celebrity testimonial for COLOR WOW Dream Coat Supernatural Spray. This stuff apparently “Slays Humidity and Prevents Frizz” (again lol). I may or may not have been having some sauvignon blanc and thought “why not?” –> add to amazon cart –> purchase.

Exactly two days later (thank you, Amazon), the Dream Coat arrived on my doorstep. In my blind sauvignon-blanc-driven haste, I failed to notice the this formula was heat activated. I had been on a kick where I wash my hair in the evenings and allow it to air dry, straightening it in the AM. In a way, COLOR WOW made me realize I just need to buck up and dry my hair.

First trial, I shocked to find my hair voluminous but completely frizz-free. I travelled to San Antonio and put Dream Coat to the Texas Frizz Test – same fabulous result. The reason is Dream Coat’s technology borrowed from the textile industry. Each hair strand is covered with a waterproof cloak made of a heat-activated polymer. It compresses and tightens hair strands leaving silky and smooth hair. Because it doesn’t weigh down hair, volume is preserved.

I apply liberally to my hair from roots to tips and dry normally. Those with super-frizz, but want to section out hair as they dry. The formula works up to 72 hours or 2-3 shampoos but I use it each time I wash my hair since I am shooting for a shampoo every 2-3 days. Thank you, sauvignon blanc!

Kérastase Spécifique Bain Vital Dermo‑Calm

Kérastase Spécifique Bain Vital Dermo‑Calm on Belle Belle Beauty

It isn’t cute, but unfortunately it is common. I have dry and sometimes flaky scalp and it sucks. But thanks to my dermatologist, I got a diagnosis and medicated shampoo to treat it when it flares up. It works but, man, it smells gross. Enter Kérastase Spécifique Bain Vital Dermo‑Calm which is my new favorite way to treat flakiness.

I have been using it since last summer. I recently rotated in another shampoo and noticed the dryness creep back in, so I am once again loyal to Dermo-Calm. The shampoo is silicone free and doesn’t weigh down strands. It is packed with anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients to calm skin. Piroctone works to soothe itching. Lastly, menthol calms but without the medicinal fragrance. For those who share my scalp problems or just want a refreshing and weightless shampoo (that is color-safe), check out this gem!

PHYTO PHYTOJOBA Intense Hydrating Brilliance Mask

PHYTO PHYTOJOBA Intense Hydrating Brilliance Mask on Belle Belle Beauty

Hello! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. I had a busy work schedule over the holidays but got away to Florida to see my mom this past weekend and it was glorious. Everyone was apologizing for how cold it was (50s and 60s) and I was like “this is glorious!”. Hahaha!! Tulsa has been literally freezing. I have a ton of health and beauty tips from mom to share – I am making the potassium broth she introduced to me right now. Sounds weird but it is delicious – just google it.

One little treasure mom shared her thoughts on with me was the PHYTO PHYTOJOBA Intense Hydrating Brilliance Mask. I can’t find this anywhere but Amazon so it might be discontinued, so if it sounds appealing, snap it up while you can. Mom’s hair is dry so she is always looking for something to infuse moisture and this does it big time. The mask is aromatic and contains jojoba oil. The formula melts into hair for nourishing hydration while angelica root and orange essential oil add shine. Right before a walk one morning, mom slathered some on and let it “marinate” while we sweat a little bit. Perfect way to use it in my book.

Dry Shampoo by Batiste Original

Dry Shampoo by Batiste Original on Belle Belle Beauty

Ah, the sweet joy of finding a fabulous beauty buy at budget prices. Because I wash my hair every other day, I rely on dry shampoo more than a couple times a week. Since this summer, Dry Shampoo by Batiste Original has been my go-to.

The spray works well even on my dark brown hair (but there is a dark formula – I just haven’t found the need to try it). The formula provides a giant dose of clean freshness while adding body and texture. It targets oil and grease without looking dull or lifeless. I also like using this in the evening (even on clean hair) for body and volume. The original scent is classic and fresh, but I also like tropical for a fun change.

New Favorite Hair Items

Great Hair on Belle Belle Beauty

I am all about making hair easy during the work week. I rely on evening showers, an occasional bun and hair towels that preserve unbroken locks. Here are some of my most recent favorite hair products:

invisibobble: I have to be honest, these intimidated me at first and I thought they spelled disaster for tangles. But this hair ring doesn’t pull at hair at all! And it doesn’t leave dents if you plan on wearing hair down later. I love using a color similar to my own for a finished and minimal look.

AQUIS Lisse Luxe Hair Turban: I have used these hair towels for years – I think this is my fifth towel. And they just keep getting better. First, hair is suseptible to damage when it is wet. So it is important to treat it delicately. The AQUIS towels are woven with ultra-fine fibers. The lightweight towel drys hair quickly without heat. I like to wear for an hour or so after my evening shower then give hair a quick five minute blow dry.

evo: Last but not least, a new to me hair care brand. These sleek containers have some of the best smelling products. I have been using their happy campers leave-in moisturizer for long days in the sun when I need hydration and UV protection at the pool. shebang-a-bang drug spray wax, sounds heavy but is a dream in adding texture to my hair when wearing it in aforementioned bun. I also love it for adding shape without being sticky to a full-on blow out.

HUM Nutrition Hair Sweet Hair

Hum Nutrition Hair Sweet Hair on Belle Belle Beauty

I was facing a double duty beauty hazard: broken strands and destroyed nails. I had resorted to buns for most of the winter. And gel manicures too. Both of those habits leaves me with broken, weak hair and thin, damaged nails. I knew I needed a supplement and a break from beauty treatments to get back into fighting shape.

HUM Nutrition Hair Sweet Hair is designed for a strong, healthy mane. The ingredients are a combination of nutrients including biotin, zinc, PABA, folic acid and fo-ti (a root used in Chinese medicine). Biotin and folic acid help with hair, nails and skin. PABA helps maintain hair color (yay!). And Zinc promotes hair growth (double yay! – went too short last time).

Fo-ti, this Traditional Chinese Medicine has a history of promoting hair growth by strengthening organs of elimination – think the liver. And increasing circulation which makes sense in helping with blood flow and healthy hair follicles.

These little guys were actually a nice treat after dinner. They have a strong fruity taste. And the texture was more substantial than a regular gummy but still pleasant. I have a hard time swallowing supplements so I love to see all these gummy options! Not to mention my nails are completely healed after a bottle of Hair Sweet Hair and a break from gel manicures. My hair appears to be growing faster and my baby hairs around my face have started growing out to substantial real hair!

The formula is vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, GMP certified, and sustainably sourced with no artificial colors or preservatives.

Available at Sephora.
