Nail Polish by Deborah Lippmann for Juicy Couture

I cannot wait to get my hands on the Precious Metals gift set for $48, out later this year.  I love the metallacs – something Lippmann does so well.  Included are:

  • Here Comes the Queen, a uniform bronze/silver
  • Believe, created with Cher, this is a nude, with a larger metallic sparkles
  • Jewel in the Crown, a pewter

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Nail Lacquer in Feathered

While I was impressed with some OCC products I found at The Makeup Show last weekend, I was greatly disappointed with the nail lacquer.  This formula is billed as modern colour palette, densely pigmented, quick-drying and super long lasting. So, I figured this could be the perfect, opaque white I have been searching for.  “Feathered” is described as: “Pure Opaque White with a Satin Finish”.   Could not be further from the truth.  No matter how many coats I applied, I could not even achieve complete color coverage.  I hope the acclaimed lip tars go better.

CND Shellac

Manicures have taken on a new, longer life.  14 days ago, I got my first Shellac manicure and couldn’t have been more pleased.  My cheery red nails lasted a full two weeks with absolutely zero chips. Really, the only reason I took the polish off, was because my nails had grown out. Your nail beds are not damaged at all with the application and it only takes about 5 minutes to remove the polish. The system contains a Base Coat, Color Coat and Top Coat. After each layer is exposed to a UV Lamp, you can leave the salon with totally dry nails.  They even do the massage after the polish! That is how absolutely dry they are. Right now the shades are varied but mostly traditional colors.  I started with red, but thinking a vibrant pink to celebrate spring next.

M·A·C ‘Wonder Woman’ Nail Lacquer in Spirit Of Truth

Great color – tons of work.  This inky, creamy blue had me smitten from the beginning.  It was the only piece I purchased from the Wonder Woman collection.  While the color looked divine, the polish dried slightly soft on my nails.  Any small bump created a divot in the polish.  I applied the color on Friday and it peeled off late last night. This actually was a good thing.  When I went to remove the remaining polish, the color was VERY stubborn.  Despite a base coat, my nail beds now have a not-so-flattering blue.  While the color is absolutely stunning, I do not think it was worth the trouble.

Deborah Lippmann Naked

My search for the perfect, nude polish is over.  Thank you, @Deborah Lippmann.  After experimenting with some high pigment colors over the past couple of years, I realized I needed a good solid break from blacks, blues and golds.  Naked is the perfect nude shade because it is polished and opaque, while complimentary to so many skin tones.  The Lippmann polishes have great staying power on me.  My current manicure is five days old with not a single chip, honestly.  Amazing, huh?

Sally Hansen Salon Effects

So, I was going to a show on Saturday.  Like, live music and I wanted to be edgy and cool. I wore my biker jacket and slouchy boots and thought this would be the perfect excuse to use the Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Misbehaved.  Think snakeskin or fishnet pattern (far right, third down).  They were super easy to apply.  Each appliqué has two ends and you can select which one fits your nail bed shape.  They are made with real nail polish and you can tell with the scent when you open the package.  Although they promised 10 days of wear, mine came off after three days.  But it was worth it.  Nail art can only be enjoyed for so long.
