Summer to Fall on Belle Belle Beauty

I am having that sort of hibernation inclination that can only seem to happen as the weather turns colder. Too bad the actual weather didn’t get the memo (it is in the high 80s here this week). Either way, I am in super nesting mode. I made chili, chicken and soup last night. I’ve also started on a breakfast smoothie kick with Coconut Milk, protein powder and bananas. Amazing how a weekend in California can inspire the inner foodie. Between cooking breaks, I found some things from around the web:

7 simple things to do for a healthful, youthful body.

I unearthed this column from The New York Times. I wish there were new episodes coming – I’m totally savoring the archives.

These affordable loafers look perfect for travel.

This beauty interview is a sweet insight into how women get to know and love themselves (and it also makes me want to go on a beauty shopping spree).

Loving the fall arrivals at Shopbop, especially everything Vince. I have my eye on this beauty.

Easy & Healthy Glow

Napa Valley on Belle Belle Beauty

I’m fresh off a fabulous trip to Napa Valley which I also like to call my “Happy Place”. There is literally no other place I’d rather be. While a part of it is wonderful wine, I am just as invigorated by great produce, long walks through the vineyards, delicious coffee and (most importantly) seeing my dear and wonderful friends.

While I was out there, I took a break from work-week makeup and went for a fresh and healthy glow. Just a tad of product to even out my skin, some color on the cheeks and a swath of mascara. Here are the products I turned to:

Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation – With the warm and dry heat, my skin needed a serious dose of moisture and this barely tinted foundation provided just that. The formula is 60% water and 10% mineral pigments in botanical oil. These pigments work to reflect light for a natural luminous finish.

Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint – Although Tata is from the East Coat, the Napa Valley reflects a lot of what she’s about: natural products, botanicals and a natural look. I use Very Vivacious as a cheek tint for just a hint of flush that wakes up my complexion.

Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Waterproof Mascara in Very Black – This is the only waterproof mascara that I use and I love that I can refresh my stash frequently because it is so affordable. There is nothing worse than a dried out waterproof mascara. The formula lends to full but still soft lashes that aren’t stiff. And there are no worries about messy fallout during hotter or more active days.

This post is inspired (but not sponsored by) Glossier. Another favorite for a healthy glow is their Perfecting Skin Tint which offers just a wash of color and is perfect for those with oilier skin.

Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm

Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm on Belle Belle Beauty

I realize Carmex can be a little divisive. But I am more than happy to admit I am a total devotee. I love the classic tub, especially in the cold winter months. But for those who don’t care for the medicinal taste, Carmex’s newest launch could be a perfect solution as the winter months start drying out our pout. And this option is adorably trendy!

Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm has new package designs inspired by prints, textures and even Pantone’s official color forecast. All four patterns house an ultra-hydrating formula with a soft vanilla flavor that provides beautiful shine. Plus a bonus dose of SPF 15. The slim stick uses aloe, vitamin E and shea butter to nourish chapped lips and moisturize will still offering a fashionable polish. These would also be adorable for those of you with young daughters – a totally appropriate beauty item for the start of school.

Carmex Moisture Plus is available for $2.49 at Walmart, Walgreens or Dollar General.

Lancôme AUDA[CITY] in PARIS

Lancôme AUDA[CITY] in PARIS on Belle Belle Beauty

It is another Friday so time for another palette. And this one is hot off the presses. I haven’t covered a Lancôme product in a while, but I’ve always had respect for this subtle and Parisian line. The latest release is making quite the splash. Likely because it is the most comprehensive and fun-to-use eyeshadow palette for almost any kind of look.

Lancôme AUDA[CITY] in PARIS on Belle Belle Beauty

One of my favorite beauty bloggers had her hands in the design of this beauty. Lisa Eldridge serves as Lancôme Global Makeup Creative Director and was inspired by vignettes of Parisian life. The sturdy but still elegant case houses 16 ultra-soft shades from neutral to deep

Unlike some of the Urban Decay palettes, this collection ranges from cool to warm. The delicate champagne on the delicate end morphs into a rich and daring matte and shimmer finishes. The sixteen shades a grouped based on an inspiring time of day in Paris.

Good Morning Paris:

  • Filigree (Light Gold Shimmer)
  • Choquette (Peach Matte)
  • Parfait (Light Pink Matte)
  • Kitten Heel (Gold Copper Shimmer)

Ride & Promenade

  • Joie (Golden-Bronze Shimmer)
  • Voyage (Muted Purple Matte)
  • Sante (Brown Matte)
  • Éclair (Purple Metallic)

Unexpected Rendez-vous

  • Exhibition (Orchid Shimmer)
  • Zip Me Up (Deep Purple Shimmer)
  • Volcano (Silvery Gray Shimmer)
  • Clock Strikes 12 (Gray Metallic)

Nuit Parisienne

  • Audacious (Smokey Brown Shimmer)
  • Couture (Dark Brown Matte)
  • It List (Black Matte)
  • Nuit (Black Metallic)

No shock that I am drawn to the “Good Morning Paris” subset because of the wearable and sheer shades. The width of each pan is just large enough to use the included dual-ended brush. But I secretly confess to loving these applied with the finger for a wash of color. Available at Lancome-usa.com, Nordstrom, Saks.com and Sephora.

Keeping a Summer Tan on Belle Belle Beauty

Some links from around the web:

Loving Avon’s new blog, Beauty For a Purpose, with loads of tips and girl power messages. Don’t miss their round-up of 13 monumental moments in beauty.

Totally devouring this book about World War II – my latest historical fiction obsession.

I accidentally shrunk this scarf last winter – I loved it so much, I broke down and ordered a replacement.

I’ve already admitted to indulging in a summer glow, so might as well share these tips on how to keep your tan if you did the same.
