Molton Brown Plum-kadu Shampoo and Conditioner

I already was sold on Molton Brown (I adore their Vitalizing ABC Shower Gel), but I had yet to try any of their hair care products. And after a summer spent outside by the pool and a week in polluted New York City, I was definitely in need of some added shine and gloss to my hair. But the first thing I notice about the Molton Brown Plum-kadu Shampoo and Molton Brown Plum-kadu Conditioner is how it is one of the best smelling products I have ever used (seriously). Add in the way it added glossiness to my dull looking hair and you have a winner.

Plum-kadu from Australia detoxifies first to remove buildup. Moringa seed go after the urban pollutants that can cause dullness. Amino acids add in healthy shine. And the real highlight is the cardamom, waterfruits and sandalwood that added a fresh, clean smell to my hair.

I highly recommending taking a peek at these next time you are at Neiman Marcus or shop using the widget below.

Original & Mineral Original Detox Shampoo

We get facials for our skin, so why not our hair? With my recent scalp health kick, makes perfect sense to me. The Original & Mineral Original Detox Shampoo works to dissolve build-up without striping essential oils. Australian River Mint deeply cleanses and Peppermint refreshes the hair and scalp with a cooling effect (so nice during these hot summer days). The result is shiny, bouncy hair that feels and looks revitalized.

The formula is Parbens, MIT, Sulfates, and Triclosan free. To find a local salon or order online, click here.

Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo

For some reason, I was expecting this to be like the facial cleansing oil by Shu Uemura – an oil based, non-foaming cleanser. But that isn’t what Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo is at all. The formula actually quickly forms a foam that delicately (and intelligently) removes build-up without striping the natural oils. The result is a very scalp-healthy, balanced head of hair without a hint of grease.

This unique formula became part of my routine just in the nick of time. It was truly transformative. My very long locks are free of split ends, but slightly dry. I deal with scalp issues like itching and psoriasis. So my hair looked dull and tired from the scalp-healthy routine I had in my shower.

The Cleansing Oil Shampoo returned my head full of soft, shiny and hydrated and hydrated hair. Shu Uemura uses deep-sea extracts to remove build-up without stripping the necessary natural oils. It is gentle on my scalp and free of silicons so my strands aren’t weighed down. I love the calming yuzu citrus scent.

Moltobene Clay Esthe Reshtive Shampoo and Treatment

I was mildly scolded by my hair stylist when I complained about frizz and reported I was using drugstore shampoo and conditioner.  I never really bought into the salon hair treatment, and always opted to save some cash and buy at CVS.  Well, I was wrong.  Not dead wrong, but wrong.  If you are willing to spend (a little) extra dough, you will be handsomely rewarded.  I have been using the Moltobene Clay Esthe Reshtive products for a week and the difference in my hair is night and day.  I don’t even have to dry my hair and it is insanely soft – I mean insanely soft.  It have great bounce and my layers just have that skooch of a wave at the bottom.  I wear my hair in a top knot when I sleep and in the AM I have to make minimal effort.  The upgrade was incredibly worth it.

Psssssst Instant Spray Shampoo

My hair stylist has raved about this dry shampoo, but she was only able to find it when she was working in New York.  The other day, I FINALLY found it at a Texas drug store and immediately snapped it up.  Psssssst lived up to all expectations.  The scent is unlike any other dry shampoo and really does smell clean.  If you don’t have a heavy hand, the powder doesn’t show up at all.  The product eliminates grease and product, allowing you to quickly restyle.  Looks like your blowout was done that morning!  Definitely a step up from my old standby: baby powder.

update: this bottle does not last long so if you come across it, scoop up a couple!

L’Oreal EverSleek Intense Smoothing Shampoo

I really like the concept of this line.  The whole line is free of sulfates which initially led me to buy the EverStrong line.  The EverStrong worked okay for me, but when I realized they had an EverSleek available, I was on off to the drugstore.  I have fine hair, but lots of it, and in the winter it can get really unruly (read: frizzy) in the back.  I am not sure if it is the lack of silicon, but this doesn’t weigh my hair down like other smoothing products.  Argan, olive and sunflower oils are used to smooth. Without even blow-drying, my hair is smooth and bouncy.  There isn’t much of a fragrance, which I like in a shampoo, but I’ll overlook it because this stuff really works.
