Nutrisystem Week 12

Nutrisystem Week 12 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 0.6 pounds for a total weight loss of 21.6 pounds. While it is a little bit of a slower week, I welcome any loss with open arms, obviously! This week, I’ve been having quite the sweet tooth. Funny because I usually don’t go wild for desserts. The wonderful news about Nutrisystem is many meals are actually a tasty little treat. The French Toast, Double Chocolate Muffin and Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar have come in handy. Can you believe I’m losing weight eating this stuff? No, me either. And that isn’t even mentioning the daily desserts (um… Ice Cream Sandwich, hello!).

I’ve also changed things up on the exercise front. That week a while back when I didn’t lose any weight? Yeah, after that I really started going after it with the cardio. The past two weeks, I was feeling a little sluggish, so I tempered my cardio a bit for a little yoga and more strength work. I can see the transformation more in my abs and upper arms. So, even with it comes to exercise, it all really is about balance, isn’t it?

Nutrisystem Week 11

Nutrisystem Week 11 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 1.6 pounds for a total weight loss of 21.0 pounds. Each week, I post these updates with amazement. Part of me wants to say “how did this happen?” Making changes is never ridiculously easy, but for me, Nutrisystem has been just that. Wake up, drink water, exercise and eat the food. I don’t mean to be blase about the commitment it requires, but it just isn’t much of a sacrifice. Especially when each week I get to look at a smaller number on the scale. Everything is portioned for you and easily prepared. Not to mention, tastes pretty darn good.

One thing I’d like to add is my update on dining out. I have had many meals out since I’ve been on Nutrisystem. Mostly dinners since that is how my friends and I usually celebrate the weekends. When ordering, I focus on fish, lean meats and veggies. I skip bread, cheese and desserts. I also try to split entrees or order appetizers as often as I can. Favorites are sashimi, shrimp cocktail, chopped salad (dressing on the side), carpaccio, caprese salad (well, this has a little cheese) and scallops. And for a cocktail, I lean towards low calorie martinis and champagne (80 and 90 calories a serving, respectively!).

Perhaps my best takeaway so far is that Nutrisystem has taught me a new attitude and way of life. I like this way of doing things. It is a heck of a lot more fun. So that makes it a cake walk!

Nutrisystem Week 10

Nutrisystem Week 10 // Belle Belle Beauty

I want to dispell any preconceptions that Nutrisystem is all pre-prepared foods. While my breakfasts, lunches, dinners and desserts are all frozen or pantry, there are certain “grocery” foods that you add in to your diet. Many of them are unlimited! This week, I’ve been experimenting with adding some grocery items to the actual prepared meals. Some of my favorites:

  • I love using low calorie almond milk in my smoothie – it ups the protein punch and tastes amazing
  • Add some grape tomatos, sliced in half, on top of the Margarita Pizza and a little extra low-fat mozzarella cheese
  • To fight off a cold, I added germ-fighting garlic to my Red Beans and Rice, not to mention a dose of Chalula (my favorite hot sauce)
  • Fresh, sliced apples go great in the yummy Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
  • To up the veggie content, I love adding spinach to the Garden Vegetable Omelet
  • Sriracha and Garlic Chili paste add some zing to at least one meal a day (can’t wait to try them on the new Szechuan Noodles!)

This week, I lost 1.2 pounds for a total weight loss of 19.4 pounds. I’ll take it, especially since I skipped a few workout this week while fending off a nasty cold (successfully, might I add!).

Nutrisystem Week 9

a chance

Some people thought I was crazy for starting Nutrisystem during the holidays. And, I admit, I was a little nervous. But I took a chance. And so far, so good. My journey has been a good and successful trip and I only expect it to continue to be a great ride. So, as someone who is on the other side of taking a chance… happy to report it feels pretty darn good over here.

This week, I lost 1.6 points for a total weight loss of 18.2 pounds.

Nutrisystem Week 8

Another Perspective // Belle Belle Beauty

Back on track this week! I lost 2.6 points for a total weight loss of 16.6 pounds. Let me tell you… fashion just got a lot more fun. And I expect to enjoy it even more. But this week, enough about me. If you have been following my journey, you know my father is also using Nutrisystem. After so many questions about how tasty the food actually is, I thought I would give you his testimony. And those who are thinking about encouraging a dad, boyfriend or husband to join, I thought a man’s perspective would be helpful.

Like myself, my father views Nutrisystem as a “lifestyle program.” He reports that there is no hunger or “sacrifice”, but more incentive and encouragement to exercise. We both have made working out part of our daily life. As a note, we also feel the same way about drinking water. The structure really helps with portion control, he says. I assure you, he consistently tells me how good the food is. While some meals are better than others, none are actually bad. The portability of the meals also comes in especially handy for him between home and the office. I’ve been so impressed with his innovation and enthusiasm about loading up on veggies. His favorites are vine-ripened tomatoes and Newman’s Own Lite Balsamic Dressing. And, of course, the results: my father is down 19.2 pounds since November – way to go, Dad!

Nutrisystem Week 5

Travelling on Nutrisystem // Belle Belle Beauty

I survived the holidays on Nutrisystem! Actually, it was pretty easy. I did allow myself some cheats on Christmas Day but otherwise was healthy through and through. My savior has been my love for fresh seafood. Shrimp cocktail, oysters and grilled fish are festive and still incredibly healthy. And with my lack of a sweet tooth, dodging those cookies wasn’t hard. The celebritory glass of champagne wasn’t the same story. But…. amazingly, a glass of the bubbly is only 90 calories so I cheered away with minmal guilt.

But next up is a real challenge. This weekend I will be in San Francisco for the wedding of a close friend. And then it is onto temptation city in Napa to see friends. Wedding cake, wine, and rehearsal dinner indulgences will all be a challenge to navigate. On the bright side, this part of the country is literally the best place for fresh fruits and veggies (even in the winter). So I hope to fill up on the “good stuff” and avoid cheeses and breads. I also have a stash of Nutrisystem bars to help me out. Wish me luck!

I lost 1.4 pounds this week bringing the total to a 11.8 pounds. Not too shabby for smack in the middle of Christmas.
