Nutrisystem Week 7

Nutrisystem Week 7 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week was a bit of a plateau with no weight loss so my total remains at 14 pounds. While there is a touch of disappointment, I still am seeing results. I upped my cardio with an extra 10 minutes. And I have added in strength training, leaving me feeling stronger and more energized. Yesterday, a neighbor pulled me aside and sincerely told me how great I look. I’ll take that over a number on a scale any day! Again, encouragement like this is what makes this whole journey easy, rewarding and possible.

Nutrisystem Week 6

Nutrisystem Week 6 // Belle Belle Beauty

I lost 2.2 pounds this week, bringing the total to a 14 pounds. It was a big week! We are in the swing of New Year Resolutions, advertising campaigns and inspirational stories everywhere. All the excitement makes it easy to feel motivated. At the risk of sounding sentimental or cheesy, I do believe the best is yet to come. Feeling and looking better each day makes me realize how much I have to look forward to. I’m so lucky this journey has begun.

After a week of travel, the biggest lesson has been how easy Nutrisystem is to stick to. The breakfast, lunch and dessert bars were great while I was on the move. My idea of portion size has cemented in my brain and I was able to adjust how I ate my meals. I avoided cheeses and desserts (I had to splurge on just a smidge of San Francisco sourdough bread – my favorite). And my friends were uber-supportive, even joining me in sticking to Nutrisystem’s suggested grocery foods. I can’t wait to replicate the tuna salad my host whipped up for me with egg whites, celery and green onions. It takes a village and support of friends and family can truly make a difference.

Nutrisystem Week 5

Travelling on Nutrisystem // Belle Belle Beauty

I survived the holidays on Nutrisystem! Actually, it was pretty easy. I did allow myself some cheats on Christmas Day but otherwise was healthy through and through. My savior has been my love for fresh seafood. Shrimp cocktail, oysters and grilled fish are festive and still incredibly healthy. And with my lack of a sweet tooth, dodging those cookies wasn’t hard. The celebritory glass of champagne wasn’t the same story. But…. amazingly, a glass of the bubbly is only 90 calories so I cheered away with minmal guilt.

But next up is a real challenge. This weekend I will be in San Francisco for the wedding of a close friend. And then it is onto temptation city in Napa to see friends. Wedding cake, wine, and rehearsal dinner indulgences will all be a challenge to navigate. On the bright side, this part of the country is literally the best place for fresh fruits and veggies (even in the winter). So I hope to fill up on the “good stuff” and avoid cheeses and breads. I also have a stash of Nutrisystem bars to help me out. Wish me luck!

I lost 1.4 pounds this week bringing the total to a 11.8 pounds. Not too shabby for smack in the middle of Christmas.

Nutrisystem Week 4

Nutrisystem and Thoughts on Breakfast // Belle Belle Beauty

Bad habits are hard to break, right? I vaguely remember some “rule” that, in order to break a habit, you need to go 30 days without slipping up. Well, I’ve been on this Nutrisystem journey for a short three weeks, and I already have transformed my routine in one clear way: breakfast.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I admit I thought skipping breakfast was saving calories. Clearly, that is not the case. What used to be a slog through the morning has been transformed into a nourished and productive feeling. Those “first thing in the AM” foods give me the energy to start the day right. And, I believe, kickstart a metabolism.

As a note, I am having a Nutrisystem protein shake as part of my breakfast. They are DELISH. I make mine with a 40 calorie cup of almond milk. It is a dead heat between coffee and chocolate as favorite flavor. By the time I have my breakfast and shake down, I am happily satiated.

I lost 1.2 pounds this week bringing the total to a 10.4 pounds. Slow and steady wins the race, right? While this week was a little bit slower in the “losing” department, I am thrilled with the progress, especially considering the holiday treat temptation factor!

Nutrisystem Week 3

Nutrisystem Week 3 // Belle Belle Beauty

The journey continues! Happily might I add. I had a good week, meeting all my goals and requirements. The meals continue to be tastier than I expected and the amount of snacks required per day makes me feel like I’m constantly eating. Not to mention all the water-drinking seems to help keep me full. My favorite snack this week was a mini cup of tuna mixed with garlic chili paste – yummy! It does the trick when I am having a protein craving – in Nutrisystem language, that’s called a Power Fuel.

I have started weighing myself every day. I had a couple mornings this week were there wasn’t a loss. That can be a little discouraging given all the hard work I am putting in. It makes me question if I should weigh daily. Have any of you had a weight loss journey, and if so, did you weigh daily or weekly (or at all)??

I lost 1.8 pounds this week bringing the total to a 9.2 pounds. Slow and steady wins the race, right? I’m pleased with the consistant and healthy rate of weight loss without any sense of depravation – honest, I promise!

Nutrisystem Week 2

Veggies on Belle Belle Beauty

It has been a week and I am hooked. I have to say, my lifestyle changed quite a bit this week, but in a way that made me feel better and look better. I tried lots of different meals and snacks and was really surprised by how tasty the food has been. I wasn’t expecting it to be bad. But I was expecting it to be “diet”. Not so. This program, I am learning, is about lifestyle, not depravation. On that note, I feel like I am constantly eating. With so many snacks, veggies, shakes and meals… there is always something sitting on my desk. Yet, my iPhone app tells me my daily calorie count is appropriately low. Here are some other key takeaways:

  • I exercised every single day this week. I was dreading it but actually found I already look forward to hopping on the eliptical and notching up that incline level.
  • 64 ounces of water is a lot, but I have committed to drinking that and more on a daily basis and my skin says thank you! My face already looks more radiant.
  • Hummus and carrots are the bomb – my snack that hits the spot.
  • Protein shakes are delicious and give me fuel for the AM hours when I always used to be so groggy.
  • I’m finding that I love dessert – never was much of a dessert person before. But now I love that special treat at the end of a day, especially when it is low calorie and packed with fiber.

So, here is the moment of truth: I lost 2.4 pounds this week. I couldn’t be more thrilled. So will the initial 5 pound loss, I am down 7.4 pounds so far.
