Nutrisystem Week 31 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I gained 1.0 pound for a total weight loss of 33.6 pounds. Talk about discouraging. But…. I have done a little cheating this week. Let’s just say, I might have fallen off the wagon. I indulged in two sandwiches – big ones. And might have had a pretzel in the airport… whoopsie. But, I did run this week. Either way, I knew something was going to need to change. If I am going to meet my goal of 11 more pounds by the end of July, I had to make an adjustment.

So, for the first time in my 30 weeks on Nutrisytem, I enlisted the help of their counselors. Man, I wish I had earlier! They have live chat, email or phone support if any question or concern arises while you are on the Nutrisystem program. And let me tell you, these guys know their stuff.

First, my counselor pointed out that she thinks I’m not eating enough! She’s said it is possible that I am putting my body into starvation mode. The meals, proteins and carbs on the menu are expertly designed for weight loss… she encouraged me to get them all into my daily diet. So, step 1: Eat More!

Secondly, my counselor pointed out that, because I was running, the “SmartCarb” portion of the program was even more crucial. She encouraged me to add some orange juice into my diet to fuel my workouts. Did she say orange juice??? It is one of my most favorite things! So I am thrilled to have that as a SmartCarb option, especially right before an exercise session.

Lastly, also related to my running, she wasn’t surpised that I had hit a plateau since I had started hitting the pavement. In fact, I met another Nutrisystem member who also experienced this problem. The counselor pointed out that I was gaining muscle and those muscles were also retaining water. I was thrilled that she said most runners push through this plateau after about five weeks – the amount of time I’ve been running.

So, while this week was a gain, I have learned so much. I am excited to hit the grocery store and Nutrisystem meals with great gusto and I still believe I can hit my goal by July 31st!

Nutrisystem Week 30 Update

Nutrisystem Week 30 Update // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 0.4 pounds for a total weight loss of 34.6 pounds. And trust me… I am celebrating. That’s because today is my BIRTHDAY! I am so thrilled to ring in my 34th almost 35 pounds lighter. I am certainly a happier and healthier woman than last year. Admittedly, this week I indulged and had some good times with friends. And I am certainly going to do so tonight. While I think there is always room for a little indulgence, especially on a birthday, I have found I am actually happier when I try hard every day. When I exercise, eat diligently and sleep well, I look better and feel better. So (for tonight), CHEERS! And tomorrow, it is back to the races.

Nutrisystem Week 29

Nutrisystem Week 29 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I gained 0.5 pounds for a total weight loss of 34.2 pounds. While the positive number can be a little discouraging, I’ve had a couple other massive victories this week, so I’m proud and smiling. First, I updated my measurements this week. Since December 1st, I’ve lost whopping 18 inches. I swung by J. Crew and happily purchased two pair of size eight short shorts. And I set a time record on my run, taking my mile time down over two minutes since I initially hit the road five weeks ago. Despite the number on the scale, I can tell my body continues to change and evolve.

An update on my goals – I’ve set the end of July as a deadline to lose these last 10 pounds. I plan on rewarding myself with a week long beach vacation. So, in the meantime, I’m upping my running and will continue to rely on delicious Nutrisystem meals I love!

Nutrisystem Week 28

Nutrisystem Week 28 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 0.5 pounds for a total weight loss of 34.7 pounds. Slow and steady seems to be the way, so I’ll take it. But I do have some big events coming up in two weeks – more news on that later. So, I’ve resolved to step up my game… adding in more runs and some barre classes to meet the 40 pound goal hopefully before the end of June.

Recently, I’ve been asked a lot about the quality of food on Nutrisystem. While I have been singing its praises, I wanted to again comment on how tasty the meals really are. I’m particularly hooked on the bars – available for breakfast, lunch and dessert. Also, fruits and veggies are allowed – and encouraged! – on the plan. So you are definitely getting a fair share of fresh and nutritious snacks. My favorites are apples and a big spinach salad lately.

I’m still amazed after six months on Nutrisystem how easy and satisfying the food and journey has been. I can envision Nutrisystem being a part of my life for a very long time just to keep the excellent portion control and balanced meals in the rotation! Check out last week’s Nutrisystem post here.

Nutrisystem Week 27

This week, I lost 0.2 pounds for a total weight loss of 34.2 pounds. But the real victory here was on the running trails. Ten years ago, fresh out of college, I ran quite a bit. I was never a speed demon, but I could pound out four miles in 36 minutes. Not too shabby. After gaining weight, breaking my foot, etc. etc. (excuses, excuses)… the running shoes were retired. Well, I broke those puppies out a couple weeks ago and couldn’t believe I ran for 30 minutes straight without stopping. Granted, it was a snails pace. But I kept at it. And after three runs this week, I have official carved off a minute and a half of my mile time. I know find myself craving the headphones and a run along the river. Feels good to be back!

Nutrisystem Week 26

Nutrisystem Week 26 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 2.0 pounds for a total weight loss of 34.0 pounds. Finally a big week. I feel like after I hit my initial goal of a 30 pound weight loss, taking any additional weight off has been a little harder slower. After adding in more resistance training, I can see definition appearing in my arms, but the numbers on the scale aren’t quite as dramatic. The solace is everyday, trying on my jeans, I realize I am closer and closer to needing a new pair. So I know my body is still changing, even if they scale isn’t. Now, I am just a small 11 pounds away from my revised goal. Can’t wait to get there and celebrate with some shopping!
