bareMinerals Light Show on Belle Belle Beauty

Here’s another bareMinerals holiday offering that was just too good not to highlight on it’s own. Light Show covers cheeks, eyes and lips in a golden palette along with a gold clutch. The clutch is pretty cute for a special occassion or a festive makeup bag. The palette feels little fragile – it is plastic – but looks amazing with its golden casing.

bareMinerals fans and beauty junkies would love to find this under their tree.

bareMinerals® ‘Simply Irresistible’ Collection

If you have a makeup junkie on your Christmas list (or are just a makeup junkie yourself), this has got to be one of the best holiday sets I have come across. This nine-piece collection has ultra-wearable, but festive eye, lip and cheek products.

Overall, this is a serious value with items anyone would love to wear. The collection includes the following:

bareMinerals 'Simply Irresistible' Collection

  • Eye colors in Queen Phyllis (light buttercup), Heirloom (shimmering grey) and Posh (sparkling carbon).
  • Cheek Tint in Charm (candy heart pink).
  • Secret Radiance All-Over Face Color (golden candlelit sheen).
  • 100% Natural Lipgloss in Pink Marzipan (delectable magenta).
  • Round the Clock™ Waterproof Eyeliner in Midnight (blackout).
  • Flawless Definition Curl and Lengthen Mascara in Black.
  • Double-Ended Tapered Blush and Shadow Brush.

The Cheek Tint and All-Over Face Color have shimmer but are fairly neutral. The Cheek Tint is very sheer (don’t fear that bold pink in the picture) while the All-Over Face glow has great impact and is stunning – perfect for a holiday party. The cheek pots have dials on the dispenser, so you can throw them in your purse with no mess.

The eyeshadows, on the other hand, do not have dials so they might be tricky to travel with. There is very little fall out with the eyeshadows except for the intense Posh, but the shimmery black shade makes it worth it. Heirloom is a unique grey shade that I plan on wearing every day. The shade looks great with inky liner and big lashes.

The mascara and eyeliner are in classic jet black. And the waterproof eyeliner is creamy and stays put all day long. The hydrating and shiny lip gloss is a subtle pink shade with a cake batter scent. The brush is good quality, although I have an issue with dual ended brushes – so hard to store!

The One of the best parts was this pamphlet with details on how the products can be worn together.

bareMinerals READY® Luminizer

I used to think a highlighter was just an optional, festive step. But after loads of compliments on my skin, I realized this holiday treat needs to be in the main rotation. While I have been a fan of MAC Skinfinish, I am welcoming bareMinerals READY® Luminizer as new favorite. Their powder has a creamy consistency without depositing too much pigment. The addition of SeaNutritive Mineral™ literally makes your skin glow from inside out.

I use this, day and night, on my cheekbones, cupid’s bow and forhead. This face chart below can give you a good idea of where to place highlighter and contour (contour = matte bronzer or foundation three shades darker than your skin tone). These also make great eyeshadows.

Both shades, The Love Affair (left) and The Shining Moment (right), would make great stocking stuffers… or just snatch them up for yourself.

September’s Favorite Things

1. I can’t quit reaching for my summer bronzer – I am just not quite ready to give up that sun-kissed glow. This bronzer by the Balm has just enough umph and a balance between pink and brown. It also looks great on the lids. (available at Nordstrom)

2. This Victoria’s Secret eye kohl fits perfectly across my lids. I close my eyes around the crayon and drag it outward. This gives a thin, yet intense, jet-black line for a more smoldering eye. I can’t find it online, but it is worth checking out if they have it in the store.

3. BareMinerals Well-Rested Face & Eye Brightener is similar to the YSL Touche Eclat, but has a balanced mineral infusion of radiance. It truly energizes and awakens the eye area. It is sheer so it works on all skin tones. (available at Sephora)

4. As far as BB Creams go, 3LAB is my go-to. I love the coverage, consistency and match to my skin tone. It is on the heavier side but I find if I apply it with the included roller contraption, it goes on super even and natural looking. (available at Nordstrom)

5. I am definitely feeling the spicy, cozy scents for the fall. And this Amber is a clear, clean incarnation that has a hint of musk. (available at Amazon)

6. These hair ties are basically ingrained in my life. They are everywhere: car, bedside tables, purse, bathroom, kitchen. I love they don’t tear or break long strands and they hold up like a champ. I think I have some that around 3 or 4 years old. They even hold my long hair in a top knot (twistbands are available at Birchbox)

7. And for my NYFW “best find”: Clarins Beauty-Flash Balm. This mask/treatment is ideal for a busy day or big event. After not enough sleep, I slapped this on before a big brunch and found my skin looked hydrated, glowy and not the least bit tired. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then apply makeup. Your look will have an extra radiance. (available at Neiman Marcus)

bareMinerals Correcting Concealer SPF 20

bareMinerals has been releasing rockstar complexion products over the last couple month: bareMinerals READY SPF 20 FoundationbareMinerals READY SPF 15 Touch Up Veil and bareMinerals ‘Stroke of Light’ Eye Brightener. They are now rounding out their offerings with a creamy, correcting concealer. While I tend to prefer drier concealers for blemishes, this seems to achieve both creaminess for under eye, along with enough coverage and substance for blemishes, perhaps due to the mineral content.

The formula contains copper that helps camouflage imperfections. Lemon peel extract helps with discoloration over time – huge for me as hyper-pigmentation is my main complaint. And the added physical sunscreen (titanium dioxide) isn’t irritating and always welcome. The finish is radiant (not too matte), especially for a mineral formulation. They have eight shades – find four sampled below:

I’ve been using my finger to blend below my eyes and a more sheer layer over my sun-damaged areas. I then follow with the bare Minerals READY foundation. I like how it sort of sets the concealer. Over all this is a full coverage look. But you could use just concealer where you need it for a lighter coverage.

bareMinerals ‘Stroke of Light’ Eye Brightener

Do you ever wish there was a happy medium between cake-y concealer and a luminizer? Well, may I present the bareMinerals ‘Stroke of Light’ Eye Brightener. This formula has light to medium buildable coverage and also adds luminescence. The brightener conceals fine lines and reduces dark circles. The tint especially comes in handy to make a tired face look refreshed and even.

The light formula blends beautifully. And the four shades cover a wide range of complextions. I like luminous 2 (Yellow/Light) to counter the redness in my skin. I use it below and in the corner of my eyes. Any leftovers on my finger goes down my nose, on the brow bone and on my cheek bones. Those days I need a little more coverage, it layers perfectly over a heavier concealer.

I’ve been so impressed with recent bareMinerals launches. The have expanded their mineral foundation empire to cover a range of needs. Formulas are exceptional across the board. Check out some other favorites below:
