Nutrisystem Week 19

Screen Shot 2013-04-03 at 3.21.47 PM

This week, I lost 0.2 pounds for a total weight loss of 29.0 pounds. As you read this, I’ll be soaking up the sun and salt at the beach. So excited to celebrate approaching the 30 pound mark with some oldest and bestest friends. So, yes… I am celebrating. But after this journey, what am I really wanting to indulge in? For me, my appetite has changed a bit. Instead of fried fish and fries, I am craving oysters, shrimp, fruit and a glass of white wine. After investing so much time and energy, it is almost like your body decides it craves things differently. And to make sure I hit that 30 pound mark next week, the running shoes are coming with me.

And just in time for some celebration – for those of you who have had a great run on Nutrisystem, check out this $40,000 Nutrisystem Giveaway. Yes… I said 40K. Now through May 22nd, Nutrisystem wants to hear success stories, past or present. Click here to enter.

One more peice of news: did you see Melissa Joan Hart as was announced this week as Nutrisystem’s latest brand ambassador? An amazing 20 pounds in 10 weeks. Way to go, Melissa!

Nutrisystem Week 18

Nutrisystem Week 18 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 1.8 pounds for a total weight loss of 28.8 pounds. Was so nice to finally have a bigger number to update you guys with. This also marks what I initially thought would be the term of my Nutrisystem journey. I have a fabulous beach weekend planned with my friends from high school and the goal was to be down 30 pounds April 4th. I’d say I’m close and I know by my Friday departure, I’ll be there. Time to celebrate!

But don’t fret – the Nutrisystem posts will continue. I’ve signed up for another three months and am shooting for ten more pounds (at least). I could not be happier with the way I feel. It seriously effects all parts of my life, making me a healthier and much happier person.

Nutrisystem Week 17

Nutrisystem Week 17 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 0.2 pounds for a total weight loss of 27.0 pounds. But I am not going to beat myself up about the smaller number this week. I came down with Strep Throat on Monday – I had forgotten how much that bugger hurts! I laid pretty low this week, lightening up on workouts. The Nutrisystem Chicken Soup came in especially handy. With all that rest, I was back, healthy enough for a pretty amazing Maroon 5 concert on Friday. After a week with just a small amount of weight loss, I am ready to get after it. I even find myself excited to return to my amped up workouts. Looking forward to reporting what I hope is a great week next weekend!

Nutrisystem Week 16

Nutrisystem Week 16 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 0.6 pounds for a total weight loss of 26.8 pounds. I just received my fourth shipment of Nutrisystem food. It is like Christmas, unpacking both old favorites and new dishes to try out. This morning, I had my first Buttermilk Waffle – YUM. Paired with the Refreshing Coffee Protein Shake, it was almost like I was out to an indulgent brunch. I’m super excited to try the Sweet and Sour Chicken when the Chinese craving kicks in. And I loaded up on convenient bars for some of the travel I have coming up.

This quote above really spoke to me. Every week, as I type my total weight loss, I am shocked by how far I have come (and will go). Even with small steps and weeks with smaller weight loss, I know I will travel far.

Nutrisystem Week 15

Nutrisystem Week 15 // Belle Belle Beauty

This week, I lost 2.4 pounds for a total weight loss of 26.2 pounds! It was a big week. Not only did I log a record weight loss, but I went for my first run in years. It feels good to be back! I ran for 37 minutes straight and cannot wait to do it again.

Those of you who have followed my journey know that my father and I inspired each other to try Nutrisystem. I wanted to share an update on his journey this week. He also in his 15th week of the program and, like me, has no plans to stop.

Dad (or Dad-o as I affectionally call him) has lost over 30 pounds from just before starting the program and down 28 since his initial weigh in. Both Dad and I tend to have a couple days where our weight stabilizes, but we have found eventually we get a breakthrough. Yesterday, he set a new low after being on a plateau for 6 days (must be a quirk of the way our bodies loose weight). He also recorded his measurements yesterday and this is impressive! Since starting waist is -4”, chest is -2”, hips are -4” and thigh is -2” – WOAH!

A note about Dad – he’s always been athletic and congnizant of his weight. For years, he has weighed daily and recorded in an excel spreadsheet. He reports: “It has been 8 ½ years since my weight was this low. The combination of the Program and how it has motivated me to exercise more consistently has resulted in a weekly weight loss for every one of the 15 weeks on the program with weekly declines of 0.7 to 2.8 pounds.” Guys… that includes Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Dad also inspires me with his grocery list – he eats an apple and banana every day with a lot of tomatoes and fresh or steamed vegetables mixed in. Frank’s Hot Sauce and Newman’s Own Lite dressings provide plenty of pep to the meals.

What Dad told me last weekend really is what hit home though. Those aches after a long car ride? Gone. He exercises or heads out to our farm every single day. He comments “the program provides just the right level of discipline and motivation to get me going every day without the dread I felt about exercise on occasion before [Nutrisystem].” You can obviously see why he inspires me. Way to go Dad! Cheers!

Nutrisystem Week 14

NS Grocery

This week, I lost 0.8 pounds for a total weight loss of 23.8 pounds. Amazing considering I am literally never hungry. Part of that has to do with the fresh foods I add into Nutrisystem. Lately, I’ve received loads of questions how these fresh foods fit into the Nutrisystem lifestyle. (Dad and I decided this is more of a way of life than a diet). I just returned from stocking up at the grocery store, and I wanted to share some of my new staples.

Like I mentioned previously, I love making my protein shakes with almond milk. It boosts protein and counts as one of “power fuels” for the day. Sriracha and Chili Garlic Paste help give foods that kick I crave. Plus, I hear heat in foods can even boost metabolism. Newman’s Own Balsamic has long been a favorite, but his Lite Italian has even less calories and tastes as good – great to shake things up a bit. Laughing Cow Light Cheese now comes in so many great flavors – they are perfect on nut crackers, Wasa or even on some veggies. Speaking of veggies, these Steamers from Green Giant taste indulgent but are only 45 calories a serving. And I always load up on fresh veggies – this doesn’t even come close to how many greens are stocked in my fridge. On Nutrisystem, you can (and are encouraged to) have as many fresh veggies as you’d like. Yum!

Hope that helped shed some light on how fresh foods fit in with the Nutrisystem prepared foods. What are your favorite healthy grocery store staples?
