Kate Somerville Oil Free Serums

Anti-aging products tend to cater more towards dry skin that isn’t prone to breakouts. Somehow, the nourishing, oil-based feel has a corner on wrinkle-fighting serums. But I know plenty of people who desire anti-wrinkle and hydration serum but don’t want the nasty oil. Kate Somerville to the rescue. Two of her newest serums are oil-free, but still satisfy the needed moisture and anti-aging needs of those with acne-prone or oily skin.

Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Face Serum is one of my all time favorite products. It gives a glow and makes my skin feel rejuvenated. Now it comes in a lightweight, water-based, shine-free formula that’s perfect for oily skin. Kate Somerville Quench Oil Free Hydrating Face Serum locks in hydration using Plumeria Flower Extract and Dynamic Moisture Complex™. Matrixyl 6, a peptide, fight against expression lines and wrinkles. Collagen builds firmness. And you get an immediate tightening effect.

Kate Somerville CytoCell P299 Anti-Wrinkle Serum uses P299™, a scientifically advanced stem technology polypeptide, to diminish the look of wrinkles and help fight the signs of aging by activating the natural renewal process that strengthens skin. This serum also helps with hydration by using hyaluronic acid and marine algae extracts, all while being oil-free.

These both can be used morning and night. I love the way Quench Oil-free looks under makeup. And CytoCell P299 is a powerhouse anti-aging fighter. I’ve been working this into my nighttime routine. Don’t forget to use this on your neck too!

Kate Somerville Daily Deflector Moisturizer Broad Spectrum Anti-Aging Sunscreen SPF 20

I’m sure I’ve preached enough that you already know you need SPF even if you are working in an office all day. But do you need the full out SPF 50+, creamy supercharged? Probably not. I prefer a light-weight, ultra-sheer SPF that layers well with my latest makeup obsession. Some favorites I have mentioned before are the La Mer ‘The SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid’ and Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50+. But I am newly smitten with Kate Somerville’s Daily Deflector.

One reason Kate’s is a standout, it is really hydrates the skin. She uses a cutting-edge new delivery system, keeping the sunscreen on the surface of the skin, maximizing efficacy. The SPF doesn’t leave a whitish cast, but actually makes my skin look more radiant. Light-diffusing ingredients create a healthy glow.

The skin care ingredients dive deeper into the skin, fighting wrinkles and tightening. Matrixyl 3000 reduces the depth and volume of wrinkles. I’ve noticed a lot of improvement on those horizontal lines along my forehead. A naturally derived shitake mushroom-based skin tightener has immediate effects on sagging skin and is formulated to gradually strengthen skin’s connective tissue.

There is no excuse when you have a sun screen like this: anti-aging, hydrating and it smells so darn good.

Kate Somerville DermalQuench Liquid Lift Advanced Wrinkle Treatment

If you visit the blog often, you probably know that I am a huge fan of Kate Somerville’s products. But I never could possibly expect a product that could do this. Literally, I was checking out some new lines on my forehead, wishing I had a solution but knowing it was just a reality of the mid-30s. And then enters Kate Somerville DermalQuench Liquid Lift Advanced Wrinkle Treatment.

The can/bottle looks unlike anything I have ever seen. Why did it have this protruding nozzle? After a quick read of the instructions and a test on my hand, I had to see what this stuff could do to those new (and annoying) lines on my forehead. She has basically packaged her cult-status 60 minute “DermalQuench Oxygen Treatment” into a bottle. The treatment uses oxygen and Hyaluronic Acid to plump skin.

The cannister is actually presurized and contains ”wrinkle-relaxing PFC-Oxygen Carriers”. These “carriers” deliver the oxygen and Hyaluronic Acid. Watch out for going overboard. I did get a little over-zealous on the first use and had some resulting peeling. But after some weeks of use, my lines were noticably reduced. This can be used once or twice daily. My sensitive skin does better with just one use per day.

This isn’t on the Neiman Marcus website yet, but I know it is already in stores. You can also find it at Nordstrom.com.

A side note: I was lucky enough to visit “The Clinic” in Los Angeles this weekend. I can’t wait to report back on my experience!

Kate Somerville KateCeuticals Moisture Milk Cleanser

I’ve been on a bit of a retinol and AHA kick. And I can say, my skin has never looked better. But it might be slightly in need of some tender loving care. And nothing hits the spot better than a rich, creamy cleanser from Kate Somerville.

The worst is when a gentle cleanser is so gentle it doesn’t to anything, but this stuff is still highly effective. I use a wipe to first remove my makeup. Then smooth the milk cleanser over wet skin. It instantly soothes with vitamins and plant extracts. Bitter orange peel cleanses, leaving my skin honestly as clean as with a foaming wash, but not stripped or tight. The cleanser itself is actually hydrating with Kukui, Macadamia, and Coconut Oils. And the hydration leaves me a little bit more glowy and radiant.

I’ll never be able to quit a big, foaming facewash, but I am also keeping this stuff nearby.

Kate Somerville Moisturizer – Which to Choose?

No secret that I adore Kate Somerville’s skin care line. One or more of her products often come up when I am asked for recommendations, particularly for hydration. I love the way Kate packages her moisturizers. They have an internal pump that prevents contamination and allows you to get every last drop. And results are quickly revealed.

With her range of options, sometimes picking the right type of moisturizer can get confusing. But the team over at Kate Somerville recently sent out this chart. And it is so helpful. I use both the Cyto Cell Dermal Engergizing Treatment and the Goat Milk Cream. But one (or more) of these five varieties are certain to be a match for your type.

Neiman Marucs is currently having a gift with any Kate Somerville purchase: a deluxe sample of HydraKate Line Release Face Serum. Plus, order online through Sunday, Feb. 5 and receive Free Vosges toffee & blank greeting card with your regular-priced purchase of $200 or more with the code NMLOVE.
