Kate Somerville® Goat Milk Cream

It was a miracle, but I didn’t get sunburned once this summer (so far). But I received so many questions from readers on how to treat a sunburns – ladies, we should know better! Leave it to Kate Somerville to recommend a powerhouse cure, Goat Milk Lotion.  I enjoyed trying the lotion so much, I had to pick up the Cream.

First, this is an outstanding warm weather cream.  In case you have had your head in the sand, this summer has been BRTUAL in Texas and we are all basically melting.  So the delicate consistancy is much more palatable – in fact, I wouldn’t even call it a cream.

Second, the goat milk contains proteins, vitamins and amino acids that makes your skin feel so incredibly soft.  It also contains lactic acid, which very gently exfoliates the skin.  And which hazel that combats summer blackheads and refreshes.

The cream, like the lotion has healing properties – great to use after procedures or to heal scars.  For something so nurturing it isn’t oily or heavy – hence its #1 spot on my vanity all summer long.

Rodin Olio Lusso

I can’t wait to get my paws on the goodies from Rodin Olio Lusso, created by Linda Rodin, a former fashion editor at Harper’s Bazzar and NYC stylist.  Rodin had access to all the greatest skin care lines in the world, but ached for something simpler.  So she developed her first oil in 2007 in her own kitchen.  Other products followed, all based on the original building blocks of essential oils.  This regal beauty knows her stuff and her emphasis on simple and natural is right up my alley.

Rodin Olio Lusso is available at Barneys New York

suggah Anti-Aging Lip Plumping Treatment

Who doesn’t have dry lips in the summer? And more importantly, who doesn’t want moisturized, pouty and youthful pucker. I was recently introduced to this charmer of a skin care line based in Southern California and I am smitten.  One of their best sellers has earned a spot on my nightstand, permanently.

Suggah isn’t a lip balm, but rather a treatment that can be used morning and night. In my opinion, it does everything a lip balm does and more. Plus the smell is pleasant, natural and vaguely sweet.

The consistancy is a super-rich and emollient balm that can, literally overnight, change the appearance of my lips.  They become ultra-smooth and hydrated. SircuitSkin achives this by using Shea butter, rather than wax or petroleum.  Suggah also contains Maxi Lip™, adding a monster dose of moisture that makes lips look fuller.

No surprise this rockstar is on their bestseller list.

Kate Somerville® ‘Quench’ Hydrating Serum

Okay, fine. I’m now in my thirties and have made that transition from Oily to Combo/Normal to the dreaded DRY skin.  I know… there are upsides and downsides too all types of skin.  For me, the upside to dry skin is getting to use Kate Somerville’s ‘Quench’ Hydrating Serum. For you regular readers, you already know I am huge fan of this skincare line.  And I continue to discover little gems in her collection.

Over the last couple of years, I have become even more aware of the effect skin condition can have on the way makeup looks (and photographs).  One of the major factors for foundation or tinted moisturizer is a well hydrated face. Quench  has a hydrating complex that seals in water, resulting in a dewy, luminous complexion.

The texture is a silky serum, but it will not cause shininess.  The effect is more satin.  There also is a vitamin A product in here: RetiStar™. For those of you who worry about irritation from vitamin A products, let me assure you – this is the most mild vitamin A product I have ever tried. It is great way to introduce the product into your regimen.

Love the way my face feels after using this and a little Kate Somerville® Goat Milk Cream.  Swoon!

One Love Organics

This week, I was lucky enough to try a some of the most valuable players from the One Love Organics line.  The Essentials to Go kit includes: travel sizes of Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser, Brand New Day Microderma Scrub and Masque, Skin Savior Waterless Multi Balm,  My New Best Friend Skin Shammy and a Love Springs Eternal Youth Serum.   I love their philosophy of a select few necessary products that are hand-made and hand-filled, using ethically sourced raw materials.

The true rockstars in this line are the serum and the Balm.  Rachel Zoe has already given her blessing to the skin savior Waterless Multi Balm. The balm is made of cold-pressed plant oils, beeswax and vanilla extract and can be used for cleansing, moisturizing, conditioning, smoothing and massaging. I have been using mine on my hair, cuticles and feet.  I even followed the tips and applied to my dry face, massaged and removed with the included shammy.  Not bad but I did miss that foamy clean feeling.  But the balm is a wonderful summer tool for heels, hair and hands.

The love springs eternal Youth Preservation Serum has a pleasant herbal smell, likely due to the natural goodness ingredients.  It reminds me of Tammy Fender products for those who are familiar.  The serum includes: watermelon seed oil, Bulgarian Rose Oil and D’Orientine S. D’Orientine S is a plant-derived ingredient extracted from the date-palm kernel.  It has been clinically proven to prevent wrinkles and fight free radicals (source: http://www.lotioncrafter.com).  This serum is hydrating but not too oily.

One Love Organics is a beautiful line with honest, organic products.  Thrilled to have it in my routine.

Kate Somerville® ‘Clinic-to-Go™’ Resurfacing Peel Pads

If you are ready to stop messing around and really have your way with your skin, try this. These Resurfacing Peel Pads are a professional-strength peel achieved through 16 individual pads.

My skin can be dry and sensitive, so a couple months ago I turned to these as an alternative to a regular, in-office peel.  The worker-bee ingredient is lactic acid (along with myrtle extract and sage leaf extract).  It is applied through these really handy pads that slide over your fingers.  To apply, buff your face with these slightly exfoliating pads.  There can be a little tingle but nothing that stings or irritates.

Kate (we are on a first name basis) instructs you to use twice a week for 4 weeks.  But even after the first three or four uses, I found my dark spots were fading and my pores looked smaller.  I was only slightly red after use.  But was back to normal in an hour.  Plus, this wasn’t an issue since I did this in the evenings.

A lot of my benefits have disappeared with being in the sun this summer.  But I know exactly what to turn to in the Fall to improve the appearance of my skin without a trip to my doctor’s for a peel.
