Piperlime Shutting Their Doors

Piperlime Shutting Their Doors on Belle Belle Beauty

With some sad news today: this Gap affiliate will be shuttering its doors around the end of the first quarter of 2015. But the silver lining is major discounts. While I didn’t shop the site often, I loved the curated collections from guests like Rachel Zoe and Olivia Palermo. Their brands resonate with my architectural and streamlined tendency in fashion. As some examples, here are some of my favorite finds right now at Piperlime:

Some other sales happening this weekend:

20% off sale at NET-A-PORTER with code 20SALE through tomorrow.

30% off sale at Madewell with code UPANDUP through Monday.

Up to 75% off sale at J.CREW with code FINDAFAV through Tuesday.

New Beginnings on Belle Belle

New Beginnings on Belle Belle

At the risk of sounding like a cliche… okay, I am kinda like one giant cliche.. but at least I own it. I am re-instituting some of my healthy habits this new year. I admit that the holidays were a bit of a free-for-all. And the new work gig has led to some laziness. Side note: I am definitely an introvert – very socially poised but I regain my strength from alone time. So I had gotten in the habit of plopping myself on the couch as soon as I got home.

You may or may not know that I lost 35 pounds a while back (12/12-7/13). I kept those suckers off until about fall of 2014. And then I gained back 13 of em. All and all, I know that isn’t too bad. But I just miss the body (and the way clothes fit) that I had worked so hard to win.

While I love Nutrisystem and will always recommend it to those who need some structure, I feel like it already instilled in me portion control and the need for exercise. I have been regimented for two weeks now and can report I have lost 6 of those 13 pounds.

I still rely greatly on prepared meals that are portioned correctly. And of course that hour of a workout after a long day. I do realize there are no short cuts or tricks as I once thought. So there is my update. I’ll keep you posted. And meanwhile, here are some finds from this week on the web:

Somehow I am missing a cable knit sweater from my closet and loving this one.

Take note: beauty trends for 2015.

This gave me all the warm fuzzies over my former hometown, San Francisco.

A modern twist on the classic trench.

I don’t care what side of the aisle you fall on… this tool is cool. #SOTU

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation on Belle Belle Beauty

I know I get all hot and bothered about foundations frequently… especially those from NARS. But their newest formula is really worth checking out. Think weightless, long-wear and buildable. And just with one little tiny drop of product.

Okay, fine… in the interest of full disclosure, I actually use 2-3 drops but that still is basically nothing especially for this generously sized square vessel of goodness. While I have tried using fingers, sponge, and a flat foundation brush, I really prefer using a stippling brush to apply. I get significantly more coverage than with this other winter favorite, but the finish is still fabulously natural.

How does NARS continue to amaze? Well, apparently it is something about polymers and pigments. All I know is that I can apply NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation basically half asleep and somehow it manages to look amazing all day long. One aspect that I particularly love given my skin type is that the technology works to neutralize redness and dullness – something I deal with all year long. My hyper-pigmentation is even but not appearing too “covered”.

Gold and green pigments work together in a specifically designed ratio to reflect light off the surface of skin to give the look of flawless but luminous skin. And scarlet spiderling root extract (where do they find this stuff?) works against discoloration and dullness.

Thanks again NARS for providing a new favorite – you guys might just be sitting on top of the heap in my book when it comes to giving great Skin!

My winter skin tone matches perfectly with Vallauris (Medium 1.5 – Medium with pink undertone). Available at NARScosmetics.com and coming soon to Sephora.

Kerastase’s Discipline Collection

Kerastase’s Discipline Collection on Belle Belle Beauty

I had to gather the troops to get today’s post to you. In the interest of reviewing for a range of needs, sometimes I enlist “Team Belle Belle” to give products a whirl. While I have fine hair that is easily weighed-down, I knew my buddy M would have the perfect hair to try this trio out.

Kerastase’s Discipline Collection is designed to help manage unruly hair without the interference of harmful chemicals. The formula works by creating a hair fiber that is smooth but still swingy. M reports that her hair is “sooooo soft” and left her mane full of movement. One attribute that I can definitely corroborate is that the shampoo, conditioner and spray all smell wonderful. The best part: it was just as great or better on day 2. I’ll conclude with M’s finally takeaway: “it is a new favorite!”

Thanks for being my Guinea Pig, M!

Available at kerastase-usa.com.

Estée Lauder and Lisa Perry Gift At Neiman Marcus

Estée Lauder and Lisa Perry Gift At Neiman Marcus on Belle Belle Beauty

Who is ready for Spring? Not me… I love winter. I guess I blame it on the fact that I always run warm hot. But leave it to Estée Lauder and Neiman Marcus to get all jazzed about Spring. Their new gift with purchase features a collab with New York fashion designer Lisa Perry and features some shades and skin care that will put a little April Showers skip in your step.

Lisa collects art and fashion from the 1960’s and 70’s – and this seems like such a great fit with Lauder in my mind. In the best way, I feel like Lauder is a retro brand. Perhaps because growing up, I always thought of their products as luxe and iconic. No wonder that I still love their marquis products today.

Lisa’s aesthetic is all about clean lines and bold shades reflected in the bold blue tote that houses all the beauty goodies. The must haves include:

  • Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II – finally working this classic into my routine and so far I love it – my skin is so calm and even
  • Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Age-Correcting Creme
  • Pure Color Lipstick – stay tuned for a second review next week but my initial thoughts here
  • Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara
  • Choice of Subtle or Bold Deluxe EyeShadow and Lipstick Compact – so many options for a weekend on-the-go
  • AERIN Lilac Path Eau de Parfum – these fragrances are so feminine and subtle

These all can be yours this week at Neiman Marcus with a purchase of $75 or more.

Samples generously provided by Neiman Marcus as part of the Beauty Ambassador Program. I consult for Neiman Marcus which is affiliated with the Neiman Marcus Group, but as always, opinions are my own.

Wednesday on the Web

All Black on Belle Belle Beauty

Sorry for the drop off in these Wednesday link posts. Part of the new year means a renewed verve to bring these back to you! I always love sharing what I find compelling on the web and I hope you enjoy them as well.

As you can see from my chosen image above – some things never change. I am still in my “all black” rut, but I do love this season’s chunky knits and easy-to-wear booties. My favorite on the rotation is this affordable pair that I got for Christmas (so comfy). Tempted to order them in Putty as well.

Love this bun: a little messy and a little polished.

I might have just met my dream cream.

This hit home and cracked me up as someone who loves Whole Foods the products Whole Foods sells.

I just got this to use a toner – can’t wait to report back with results!

I love chamomile and don’t very much love rose so I adore this.

Loving this duster for the coming months when things start to warm up.
