Purusa Dream Extract

Let’s face it – sleep is an integral part of anyone’s beauty regimen. There is quite a difference between the face I put forward the days after a restful and a restless night’s sleep. So, I am game to try anything that will lull me into a a good solid, dream-filled sleep. One thing that has improved my quality of sleep is putting in place a routine that I follow every night before I hit the hay. And Purusa Dream Extract has been a welcome addition to the lineup. The Purusa Dream Extract contains Australian sandalwood, organic French Clary sage and Italian Bergamot – a minimal, tasteful scent made with essential oils. A little spray on the pillows gives a clean, relaxing feel that puts me in a restful mind frame.

Purusa Dream Extract is available at fine boutiques and online at www.sebastiansigns.com.

Kate Beckinsale at the ‘Underworld Awakening’ Premiere – Get the Look

I’ve missed Kate Beckinsale – she was off the radar for a while, but she has made a big return in an amazing Jenny Packham gown. I can’t say I am terribly interested in this movie, but I am interested in picking up some of the Laura Mericer goodies Molly Stern, Celebrity Makeup Artist, used in her elegant bohemian look.

Face:

  • To ensure she looked flawless throughout the evening Molly prepped Kate’s face using the iconic Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance, $30.
  • Then she applied Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Fawn, $42 to enhance Kate’s extremely natural glow.
  • Molly then highlighted her cheekbones and nose with Laura Mercier Secret Brightener, $30 to give Kate an extra kick of light.

Lips:

  • Kate’s glistening lips were created with Laura Mercier Baby Doll Shimmering Lip Glacé, $22.

Eyes:

  • Molly used a blend of Laura Mercier Luster Eye Colour in African Violet, $22 and Laura Mercier Luster Eye Colour in Crystal Beige, $22 for the base and then add a line of Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Liner in Mahogany Brown, $22.
  • She finished off her lashes with two coats of Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Lash Building Mascara, $24.

Debra Messing at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards – Get the Look

I had to share the details about Debra Messing’s look at the Golden Globes. Not only because she looked youthful and glamourous, but because her artist used tarte cosmetics. Tarte is a brand that I am newly intrigued by and I can’t wait to pick up some of these products that Debra wore.

“Debra said she wanted knock-em-dead eyes. She wanted a super smoky dramatic look, so we made it all about glamorous eyes, and accentuated them with a shiny, natural nude gloss on the lips.” – Jeannia Robinette, celebrity makeup artist

Complexion:

  • To begin, Jeannia used tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage foundation with Broad Spectrum SPF 15, applied with tarte’s new airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush.
  • She added a touch of sheen with tarte’s new maracuja blush & glow brightening luminizer and cheek tint in candlelight on the tops of her cheekbones and around her temples
  • She then used Amazonian clay bronzer in park ave princess to contour the hollows of her cheeks.

Cheeks:

  • To make her cheekbones pop, she used tarte’s new Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in buff a warm nude with a touch of shimmer, on the apples of her cheeks and along her cheekbones.

Eyes

  • She lined the inner rims of the eyes with tarte’s emphasEYES™ high-definition inner rim eyeliner black pencil
  • Then she smudged smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in golden black along the lash line, followed by smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in olive, which added the perfect hint of green to complement her earrings.
  • She followed by tapping on Amazonian clay cream shadow in shimmering moss to set the look and strike the perfect balance of black and green.
  • For loads of volume and dramatic separation on her upper lashes, Jeannia used two coats of tarte’s light, camera, lashes! clinically-proven mascara, which made her eyes pop.

Lips

  • To complete Debra’s sexy, Hollywood glam look, Jeannia filled her lips with tarte LipSurgence™ lip luster in buff, then added major shine with tarte’s new maracuja divine shine lip gloss in glisten.

NARS Gaiety Blush

Blush has always been tricky for me. I am totally comfortable with and usually use a fleshy, apricot shade like NARS blush in Douceur or Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed. And over the holidays, I finally embraced a rosy glow, using NARS The Multiple in G-Spot. But I could never find a bright pink, and desperately wanted one for Spring. The Spring Chanel palette’s (Blush Horizon de Chanel) relatively opaque application didn’t work for me. But, I think I might have finally found the sweet spot: NARS Gaiety Blush.

The cool-toned pink isn’t overly pigmented and comes out fairly sheer. I love this for fair skin because it is hard to over-do. But, if you have a darker complexion, this would work well with just some additional layering. Toby Fleischman achieved a sheer wash on Evan Rachel Wood at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards using Gaiety. He also used “a swipe of good-old standby NARS Angelika Blush to add a bit of shimmer”.

Esteé Lauder ‘Pure Color’ Intense Kajal Eye Crayon

When I hear something is flying off the shelves, I immediately want to get my hands on it. We always want what we can’t have, right? So, when I heard that the new Esteé Lauder ‘Pure Color’ Intense Kajal Eye Crayon (especially the teal shade), was going to be hard to find, I ran out to pick up both of the available shades.

This is the same idea as the Guerlain ‘Terracotta – Terra Inca’ Khôl Kajal, but the Esteé Lauder offers more precision via a true pencil/crayon packaging. The shorter, chubbier crayon is actually easier to handle and maneuver than a traditional long eyeliner pencil. The included sharpener ensures you will always have a sharp point to get fine line. But the formula also works great if you want to blend out for a smokier look.

The Dramatic Teal is fresh and vibrant on the lower inner-rim of the eyelash. I also have been wearing the Dramatic Black along my top lash line with just a touch of smudge. For a product that isn’t waterproof, I am surprised how much staying power these pencils have. And the colors are incredibly rich and velvety. Let’s just say, I’m glad I got my paws on these while they were still around.
