Laura Mercier Spring (and a couple other new favorites)

Laura Mercier Spring (and a couple other new favorites) on Belle Belle Beauty

What’s not to love about Laura Mercier? Her color is all about flawless skin and wearable formulas and shades. Spring is no different. Inspired by Spring Renaissance, expect youthful and fresh colors with lots of shine and glow. Laura achieved this with warm shades, luminous skin and corals and peaches.

Spring allowed me the opportunity to finally try Laura’s Metallic Crème Eye Colour. And I am now a goner. I’m not sure if I’ll ever find a cream eyeshadow I love this much. The new limited edition shades are Golden Mist and Copper Sunrise and have the most beautiful sheen. The formula is lightweight, never creases and waterproof ensuring it lasts for hours on end. I like to apply with my finger and then blend out with a dome eyebrow brush. While I wear it sheer, you can also layer for more depth in color.  Golden Mist is a very light gold with ivory shimmer. Copper Sunrise is a warmer rose gold with slightly more pigment.

Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in a 100% wax-free lip color that plays like a balm – just what I love. I get a dose of color but no cakey mess. The limited edition shade for Spring, Play, has a unique Pearl finish that gives an ultra-youthful finish to the pinky coral.

Laura Mercier’s acclaimed Faux Lash Mascara will now come in Sierra Brown as part of Spring. I’ve had brown mascara on my mind – the less dramatic shade offers a softer finish. I like it with neutral makeup for a feminine and natural look. I also like it with a bold lip to balance the drama. With Faux Lash Mascara expect major lashes with loads of length and volume. The dual sided brush has long bristles on one side to build and shorter bristles on the other to deposit max color.

While the following aren’t technically part of the Spring collection, they are reminiscent of Pantone’s Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid. And they are “new to me” products meriting a mention.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Orchid is another iconic Laura Mercier product I hadn’t had the chance to try. It was inspired by her cult classic Caviar Eyeliner. The stick format makes this a breeze to travel with and apply. I use the crayon to apply formula over lids and then blend with my finger. While it isn’t quite as good as the Metallic Crème Eye Colour in my book, it does have great color payoff and has loads of shade options. Sugar Frost won Best Beige Cream Eyeshadow in Allure magazine’s ‘Best of Beauty’ in 2013. Orchid is a wearable purple that brings out the green in eyes.

Laura Mercier Crème Smooth in Royal Orchid also has a hydrating texture but with slightly more pigment. When I first used these, I found them to have a little drag. But it might have been an old sample because these are creamy, soothing and nourishing. Olive oil and vitamin E improves the look of lips. And I adore the hefty, architectural square case. Royal Orchid is a balanced pink that applies almost nude.
