Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette // Belle Belle Beauty

I’m pretty sure Hourglass Ambient Powders hit the beauty blogger / beauty editor world with an epic splash (don’t miss the review here). A little beauty blogger meet-up this last September in New York City (hi, Maree!) actually consisted of about 15 minutes of love for this revolutionary face powder / highlighter / bronzer / blush. I think we all issued a collective gasp when hourglass announced they were releasing a limited edition palette with two shades of their ambient powder along with a new limited edition Incandescent Light.

These powders are like no others with a high-tech, soft-focus finish that mimic all sorts of lighting. While they look amazing in person, they also look great in photography. They work by manipulating the way light reflects on skin. You get that elusive luminous finish without looking shiny. Basically with that healthy glow.

I’ve had Diffused Light in my possession since January and I love the warm powder that helps counteract the redness in my skin. My complexion has never looked more corrected and balanced. But I was thrilled that the palette featured three shades I hadn’t had the chance to try, including previously released Dim Light and Radiant Light.

Dim Light is unique neutral, all-over correction for a vast array of skin types and shades. Incandescent works as a great highlighter on my light skin (this summer, I was “light-medium” and now I am decidedly “light”). Radiant Light makes for this subtle, beautiful almost bronzer. It is great compliment to a bold lip and feathered lashes.

“I learned early on how different types of light can truly flatter the complexion. Growing up, my mother had pink light bulbs in all of the lamps throughout the house. She loved pink light because it was the softest and most flattering, and she always wanted to look good. I used this concept of lighting in Ambient Lighting Powder.” —Carisa Janes, Hourglass Founder

I’d put this in a couple categories, including a “fall must have” along with this mascara. It would make a great gift. And seeing as this is an iconic product, it is perfect for the makeup junkie in your life. Not to mention, I wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t available too much longer.

Also included is a 0.16 oz deluxe mini sample of Veil Mineral Primer. Paraben-free and gluten-free. Available at Sephora and Barneys.

AN EDITORIAL SAMPLE MAY HAVE BEEN PROVIDED BY THE COMPANY AND EVALUATED TO DETERMINE OUR OPINION OF THE PRODUCT IN THIS POST. PLEASE SEE THE DISCLOSURES PAGE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING OUR POLICIES FOR USING EDITORIAL SAMPLES.
