Dior ‘Smoothing Lacquer’ Lip Polish in Radiance Expert Beige 001

My favorite holiday look is a bold eye with an easy, nude lip. The lip is not at all fussy, with just a swipe of Dior Addict Lip Polish. Not to mention, I watched Friends with Benefits this weekend and am now obsessed with Mila Kunis and her perfect hair and makeup.

Lip Polish is slightly thicker and stickier than other glosses I love, but it has great staying power and even application. Even though it is sheer, it gives my lip a uniform and polished appearance.

The formula is supposed to emulate pro makeup technique of rolling a cotton swab along models’ lips to gently exfoliate; then they applying petroleum jelly to prime the surface and multiply the shine of the gloss topcoat. I’m not sure I notice the “revolutionary and exclusive spin-on applicator” but I do see a uniform application with the perfect amount of product.

The gloss comes in three shades: Fresh Expert, Glow Expert and Radiance Expert. I prefer the Radiance Expert because of the neutral, beige undertone.

Eyeliner tips with Dior Beauty Waterproof Eyeliner and Diorshow Iconic Mascara

I’ve received so many requests lately for the perfect lined eye tutorial.  I am working on a video, but wanted to give you guys some tips I learned in the meantime.  I was at a Dior event at Neiman Marcus recently, and their artist introduced me to some real headache-savers when trying to create a great lined eye.

The Dior Beauty Waterproof Crayon Eyeliner Pencil is packaged as a pencil.  I adore this as there is nothing better for me than an old fashion sharpening.  But past that, this is no ordinary pencil.  The consistency is a creamy gel with none of that dryness you find with a waterproof formula.  The reason waterproof is important here, is the first step to the lined eye is application on the inside of the lashes.  The only thing that will really stay is something that can withstand the natural wetness of your eye.   I never use the blending brush on the other end, although I supposed it is nice to have.  The included sharpener definitely is the one that works best for the pencil.

So your first step is to rim the entire eye with Dior Beauty Waterproof Crayon Eyeliner Pencil. On the inside of your upper lashes, place the pencil at the base of the lashes and stroke the eyeliner on each lash moving away from the eye.   On the inside of the bottom lashes, edge the pencil along the very base of the lashes from corner to corner.  Connect the bottom and top line at the very outer corner of your eye.  This is an easy way to get a good, even line without irritating the eye.  Blinking will also help blend the two lines.  You can stop here if you want a neat, daytime tight-line look.

Next, make a line on your bottom lash line, just below your lashes. Don’t worry about getting it perfect.  When using Dior Pencil, it will do the work for you.   This is where you establish your wing.  Using the exact angle at the end of your bottom lash line, just extend slightly towards the brow.  I like to make my wing approximately fourth of an inch.

Line your top outer lash line, again just along the lashes but this time along the outer edge.  Connect the top line with the end of the wing you created with your bottom lash line.   Keep the line fairly thin on the inner half of your eyes while very slightly increasing thickness to meet the end of the wing.  The great thing about this liner, it is works wonderful with all three tasks and will last throughout the evening.

Of course, we can’t forget mascara.  Dior’s Diorshow Iconic Mascara blew me away.  It is a great fit for my lashes.  It creates the perfect curve and adds tremendous length.  It isn’t as thick and clumpy as others, so my lashes still look individual in their volume.

I’m all for being adventurous in color, but for this look nothing but Diorshow Iconic Mascara in Noir and Dior Beauty Waterproof Crayon Eyeliner Pencil Trinidad Black would do the line justice.

Dior ‘Diorshow Maximizer’ Lash Plumping Serum

I am having a week of rest and renewal with my parents in town.  And I figured my lashes deserved a little break while we were at it.  I have been mascara-free since Monday – I know, Shocking!

One reason I was intent on giving my lashes some tender loving care, is they have really been through the ringer.  I decided to give eyelash extensions a try earlier this summer.  It was only a partial application, but they destroyed what were really nice and full lashes.  Where the extensions had been applied, the lashes were broken.  Now, this is not a testimony to lash extensions in general.  It is my experience (and I sure as heck won’t go near them again).

So, back to “Project Lash Renewal”.  I always have liked Dior Show mascara, so when I was playing at the counter last month, the Dior ‘Diorshow Maximizer’ Lash Plumping Serum jumped out at me.

The formula is light weight and actually white in color.  It is easy to get a full coat on all my lashes.  The hydrolyzed soy proteins go to work, conditioning the lashes.  This  promotes long-term lash growth and strength.  Over the last six weeks, my lashes are well on the road to recovery.  They do actually look fuller.  But I am most impressed that I can really sense they are once again healthy.

Dior RougeLiner Automatic Lip Liner

Sometimes with pigmented glosses, I need a little lip liner.  One of my mom’s golfing buddies recommended this pencil: “It stays on the whole 18 holes!” – translation: five hours of wear even in the hot sun.  I fill in my whole lip with these creamy liners and when the gloss wears off, I am left with a long-lasting neutral lip.  I also love traveling with these because you don’t need a sharpener.   Right now I am using Carmel but am tempted to pick up Spicy Pink for the spring.  A word of warning: I found mine at Sephora, but they are rarely in stock so be prepared to hunt around.
