This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

These days, I am all about a solid night sleep. In my late thirties, I really can tell the difference between a night of toss and turn and a full night of deep sleep. I used to use a diffuser with lavender oil (love this one from Amazon). But my friend brought a pillow spray to Iceland on our trip in May. I was getting a little tired of all the maintenance on the diffuser.

So I picked up This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray a couple months ago and my third bottle is on its way to me this very week. I spray this on my pillows and duvet before I climb in bed. The blend of Lavender, Vetivert and Wild Camomile instantly relaxes my shoulders and mind. And I have found my night is more restful and restorative.

Available at Net-a-Porter and Amazon.

Beauty Gift Guide

Beauty Gift Guide on Belle Belle Beauty

Much to celebrate on here today – thanks to the team at EmPress Themes, I am rocking a whole new look. Excited to be back blogging regularly with a sleek appearance and updated features. I now have a Shop Page for you to browse, which is currently stocked with shopping ideas for the holidays, just in time for Cyber Monday. And on that note, EmPress Themes is offering a sale through tomorrow if you are needing to refresh your blog!

If you are here on my corner of the web, likely you yourself are a beauty junkie. I certainly am. But if not, I am sure you have one on your Christmas list. Here are some ideas for your wish list or shopping list from affordable to luxury.

AESOP London Kit – a wonderful introduction to the brand and a truly luxe toiletries kit for those new year travels.

GLOW RECIPE Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask – this mask smells great, leaves skin refined and smooth and looks great on the vanity.

TARTE Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette – I love the finish of these eyeshadows and the shades are neutral and so wearable.

La Mer Mini Miracles Collection – this is my current skin care brand obsession and this relatively price-friendly set allows you to try out some favorite products.

OUAI Hair Care Set – this hair care line smells incredible and plays perfectly with my fine, wavy hair (this might be on my to-me, from-me list).

RMS Beauty Luminizer X Quad – my favorite highlighters all packaged into one neat compact (and they are natural and cruelty-free).

Nest Fragrances Votive Candles – the best holiday candles in my opinion and with this set you get to try some of their non-seasonal scents as well (Holiday, Birchwood Pine, Grapefruit, Bamboo and Sugar Cookie).

MAC Snow Ball Prep + Prime Fix+ Kit – I snagged this on Black Friday without having tried Fix+ and am already a fan of the refreshing spray to prime or revive makeup throughout the day.

LE LABO Discovery Set – I am getting a couple of these for my friends who love Santal on me, but need to check out some of Le Labo’s other super-popular scents.

SLIP Embroidered Silk Eye Mask – I received SLIP’s pillow case last Christmas and am angling for the skin care-friendly eye mask this year. It looks pretty enough to wear on a long flight.

Jo Malone London Cologne Collection – I started wearing these fifteen years ago and they still are a favorite. This set is a perfect way to reacquaint with an old staple.

Tata HarperWinter Wonders Set – if RMS is my favorite natural color brand, Tata Harper is my favorite natural skin care brand. This set has such a nice array of products for winter skin.

Tom Dixon London, Orientalist and Royalty Set – these candles are almost too pretty to burn, but if you do, your house will be filled with sophisticated and warm fragrance.

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer in White – the hottest beauty product of the season, this ultra-luxe hair dryer is a dream to use and will make your morning routine so much easier.

Laura Mercier Flawless Contouring Palette – she knows her face products and this palette is packed with shades and colors that look wonderful on a wide range of skin tones. Plus, I am a huge fan of cream formula on winter skin.

Commodity Fragrances

Commodity Fragrances on Belle Belle Beauty

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of trying out some Commodity Fragrances, giving a welcome revamp to my fall scent rotation. Commodity leverages the skill of master perfumers and natural ingredients to make simple, elegant products. I’ve been trying out three scents specifically: Bergamont, Book and Gold. Here are some thoughts about the three of them.

Commodity Fragrance Gold on Belle Belle Beauty

I am going to start with the one that I find to be the most crowd-pleasing. Gold, inspired by money in liquid form, is warm and elegant. Perfect for the cooler days. Amber and musk work really well for both men and women. Gold is part of the “white collection” – light, airy and easy which likely makes me consider it so wearable. Notes: Bergamot, Juniper Berries, Camphor, Amber, Haitian Vetiver, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Nubian Musk.

Commodity Fragrance Bergamot on Belle Belle Beauty

Bergamot is also gender neutral but part of the Platinum collection and thus lends it self to a more rich, indulgent feel. The fragrance is earthy and woody but with more citrus leaving a slightly “fresher” feel than Gold. The green notes make it light but still sophisticated. It finishes with a creaminess thanks to amirs oil from the Dominican Republic. Notes: Italian Bergamot, Pomelo, Violet Leaf. Commodity Fragrance Book on Belle Belle BeautyLastly comes Book – likely the most intersting one of all that I tried and one I expect to reach for all during the winter months. Book is part of the Black collection which is comprised of more complex and intense scents. Great Novels inspire this scent to have a mix of spicy cucumber and tourchwood that is both fresh, woodsy and spicy. Also great for both men and women. I love this layered with Gold as well. Notes: Cucumber, Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Lavender, Amyris, Amber, Sandalwood, Haitian Vetiver, Balsa, Guaiac.

As a note, each fragrance is designed to be layered together with any other to create bespoke scents tailored to each individual taste. All of those that I tried work well for men and women. While worn alone I don’t get a ton of staying power, these fragrances work best when layered and played with. So I actually appreciate the more subtle nature. Shop them at Sephora.

New Favorite Hair Items

Great Hair on Belle Belle Beauty

I am all about making hair easy during the work week. I rely on evening showers, an occasional bun and hair towels that preserve unbroken locks. Here are some of my most recent favorite hair products:

invisibobble: I have to be honest, these intimidated me at first and I thought they spelled disaster for tangles. But this hair ring doesn’t pull at hair at all! And it doesn’t leave dents if you plan on wearing hair down later. I love using a color similar to my own for a finished and minimal look.

AQUIS Lisse Luxe Hair Turban: I have used these hair towels for years – I think this is my fifth towel. And they just keep getting better. First, hair is suseptible to damage when it is wet. So it is important to treat it delicately. The AQUIS towels are woven with ultra-fine fibers. The lightweight towel drys hair quickly without heat. I like to wear for an hour or so after my evening shower then give hair a quick five minute blow dry.

evo: Last but not least, a new to me hair care brand. These sleek containers have some of the best smelling products. I have been using their happy campers leave-in moisturizer for long days in the sun when I need hydration and UV protection at the pool. shebang-a-bang drug spray wax, sounds heavy but is a dream in adding texture to my hair when wearing it in aforementioned bun. I also love it for adding shape without being sticky to a full-on blow out.
