Father’s Day – L’Occitane Cade Star Gift

Father's Day - L'Occitane Cade Star Gift on Belle Belle Beauty

Just a quick update today in honor of Dad’s Day this weekend. Thought I would pop in and share an idea for those guys we are celebrating this weekend including my favorite person in the entire world, Dad. While no one is more supportive of the blog, I am guessing he doesn’t check this spot regularly so I am going to share what he’s getting on Sunday.

Recently I covered some new releases from L’Occitane and you probably know it is a long-time staple brand here at Belle Belle Beauty. Their new-to-me collection, Cade, is made from Prickly juniper grown in Provençe. This masculine scent is the inspiration of a L’Occitane’s formula used in men’s skincare and shaving needs. I cracked the gift set I picked out for him and this scent is so beautiful but not too delicate and just subtle enough. I know their shower gels and soaps are amazing. And I can’t wait to report on Dad’s thought on the EDT.

The Cade Star Gift includes:

  • Cade Eau de Toilette 3.4 fl.oz
  • Cade Reinvigorating Shower Gel 3.4 fl.oz
  • L’Occitan Pebble Soap 3.5 .oz

Wednesday On The Web

Summer Hair on Belle Belle Beauty

Tropical Storm Bill is upon us here in Oklahoma so the rainy summer continues. I actually don’t mind so much as long as everyone is safe, especially from the horrendous floods we have had here and in Texas. I am enjoying supple skin that doesn’t rely on loads of moisturizer in this humid heat. Along with rainy evenings full of surfing the web for my favorite finds like these:

Bugs love me and you can imagine how many there are with this rain. Some tips to fight bites including my favorite repellant from Avon.

Strongly considering investing in this blazer.

I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time: If the Exercise Class Description From My Gym Were Honest – for example – “You will make noises that sound like you are trying to seduce a whale.”

Hilarious summer beauty product switch post here.

Man, I could go crazy online shopping at M. Gemi.

Giorgio Armani Beauty is having their 20% off friends and family sale now through 6/29 on orders over $75 with free shipping.

This will be my summer at-work breakfast on the regular.

Emoji lovers, don’t miss this hysterical piece.

Get Piper

Screen Shot 2015-06-10 at 5.27.03 PM

A little break from Wednesday on the Web today – I’ll be back with more links next week. But I was dying to share my new toy and thought today was a good day to update you guys since this isn’t exactly breaking beauty news. Note: if you are not a crazy dog (or cat) mom like me, read on for hilarity. If you are a crazy dog mom, you have got to hear about this:

I am admittedly a home body. And my preferred spot is generally on the couch with the pups. But I realize this isn’t possible 24/7 (I like my paycheck and social life!). I still manage to either feel guilty or worry about Izzy and Tink when I am away. And can say I’ve run home just because I have fretted that they are hungry, hot, cold or just plain lonely.

But these days I don’t have to be left in the dark while I am out and about. I’ve had my Piper for a couple weeks and it allows me to creep on my little knuckleheads at any point during the day. When I am at work and need a short break, I pull up the live cam to get tabs on my girls (breaking news: they are usually in their crate asleep).

In addition, I get alerts on my phone if there is  severe weather, a loud noise or motion detected. Invariably, Tink goes to the middle of the living room around 4PM to bark and chase her tail for a couple seconds. So for those who think dogs don’t have a sense of time, I beg to differ.

I can also “speak” to the dogs through my Piper. While I try not to tease them with my voice while I am out, I do like to let them know I am in the elevator about to get to the door when I am on my way home. Their perked up ears and ensuing barks are the highlight of my day.

I have the Piper nv which offers an enhanced HD picture (3.4 mega pixels) and night vision. The Piper Classic has no night vision and a 2 mega pixel camera. You can tell from above, I definitely utilize night vision. And I’ll be glad to have it during the winter when it gets dark early in the evenings. So my vote is to upgrade to the nv. My Piper is white, but it also comes in black (pictured above). It was simple to set up – all you need is a WiFi connection and a smart phone.

And I take solace in making sure the temperature is normal in the apartment and no unwelcome visitors have made their way in. Piper has seriously given me peace of mind – remember I am a crazy dog mom. I enjoy my evenings out more knowing that they girls are snoozing away and not about to breakdown in my absence.

Wander Beauty Glow On-the-Go

Wander Beauty Glow On-the-Go on Belle Belle Beauty

I am officially on the natural makeup bandwagon. While I have always appreciated responsible ingredients, I think the category has recently been elevated by some amazing new brands. One of those is Wander Beauty founded by Lindsay Ellingson, a high fashion supermodel. Not only is she gorgeous and knows makeup, but she is also a kind and energetic entrepreneur. She’s launched her brand with the perfect product for a jet-setter (or those who love a simplified routine).

The On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator is a dual-sided stick with a highlighter and blush suited for every complexion. The formula is cream to powder and works on eyes, lips, cheeks and body. The soft-focus illuminator adds a nude glow and dimension. The blushes are equally flattering and really “wake up” my face. I have been using Soft Pink but I wouldn’t mind getting my paws on the Coral Rose as well. The pigment comes out fairly sheer but can be built up for more impact.

I follow Hitha‘s approach and apply the blush on the apples of my cheeks. The illuminator goes on my eyelids, cheekbones, corner of my eyes, Cupid’s Bow and a little below my lip.

My skin also looks healthier since I’ve been using the blush. Probably thanks to a formula packed with Vitamins A,C & E. Plant Derived Squalane works to hydrate and condition. Wander Beauty is cruelty-free, free of parabens, mineral oil, phthalates and fragrance. Made in the USA.

California Coast on Belle Belle Beauty

This month began with a trip to New York. And it ended with a visit to Chicago. I am not really a big city type of girl, so I am surprised that I visited two such meccas! Next trip will definitely be to California to see my beloved coast and friends. Sorry for the light post today – Mercury Retrograde has me in a bit of a cloud so I am regrouping this week. I don’t always believe in those things, but for some reason, the last couple of years they are always spot on. In the meanwhile, here are some links from around the web:

I admit I am guilty of “buck naked” and “wheelbarrel” – which of these “Eggcorns” are part of your vocabulary?

Love these crafty meals out of pantry staples (when you think you have nothing to eat).

After loads of magazine reading on airplanes, I cracked up at this humorous essay.

I cannot believe it is June – here are some of my favorites from May from around the web:

Summer Legs

Summer Legs on Belle Belle Beauty
Summer clothes are far from my favorite. Regular readers will know that I love layers and cozy fabrics of fall best. But one thing I do welcome is retiring my black tights and baring my legs when the summer arrives. But that also comes with the issue of dry and pasty skin. To remedy that, I am sharing ome of my favorite items that have been on rotation the last month or so here:

Kate Somerville Somerville360° Tanning Towelettes – Hands down, the best self-tanner out there. The cloths are so easy to use (and travel with). I just wipe on my legs quickly when the towelette is fresh and then buff on the color over a minute or so each leg to ensure everything is even. The color is natural and says put for a week. Plus, it doesn’t mess up sheets or clothes and has a relatively pleasant scent.

Miracle Skin Transformer Tinted Body Lotion – Sometimes a faux tan can only take you so far. If you want to up your game, try a tinted lotion like this one. The ingredients help firm skin, including caffeine that works against cellulite. And the shimmer is more subtle than “over-the-top”.

mark. Naked Love Body Butter – My tans tend to last longer when I moisturize my skin at night. Since I prefer something without a tint and slightly richer in the PM, I reach for body butters. The newest from mark smells like a summer dream: apricot nectar, white peaches, velvet freesia and skin musk. It is perfectly rich but still melts into skin.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian, Kukui Nut Body Oil – You can’t beat the shower as a great time to hydrate. I like using oils right at the end of the shower to “seal” in moisture. My recent oil smells like a Hawaiian vacation – and as close as I will get to a Hula for the foreseeable future. Vegetarian and cruelty-free.

note: Honorable mention for PrttyPeaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion in Medium which is vegan, natural and gluten-free. It has slightly more shimmer than the Miracle Skin and can be used on the face and hair.
