I was thinking the fruity and tropical cocktail smell would give me a break from the winter, at least in the shower. I dove in with high hopes but was overwhelmed with a heavy, sticky and sweet smell. Ironically, none of the smell stayed on my skin after my shower. All that overwhelming odor for nothing! Overall, I like philosophy products, but I think I will stick to one of their more begnin scents, like Grace.
Hi, my name is Belle and I am addicted to eyeliner. Not in that goopy, thick application way. More like I can’t stop buying it in the hopes that it just might be better than anything I have tried before. I did rejoice when I tried MUFE Aqua Liner last month. I still use it and still love it. But over the holidays I could help but try 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Ransom (bright iridescent purple). Didn’t hurt that these liners are flying off the shelves and many colors are out of stock online. It had to be good. And it was. I am not adventurous when it comes to liner colors, but this purple was subtle and gave a glow. It also made my hazel eyes look more green. The pencil is smooth and creamy but the pigment stayed on throughout the day.
Not surprisingly, I was excited to get my December shipment from BirchBox (www.birchbox.com), my new favorite beauty resource. But I couldn’t imagine that I would find the solution to a long search for a lighter or tinted moisturizer. I don’t like the way Laura Mercier smells so there went the usual favorite everyone was recommending to me. I am smitten with Jouer’s Moisture Tint. It evens skin, comes out looking matte with just a bit of glimmer. And don’t worry folks, it looks great for day despite the bit of sparkle. On their website, Christina recommends layering for more intense coverage for those of you looking for that. I love it just the way it is with a light application all over the face. I can never find eyeliner that will stay put for me so might as well try one originally designed for for performers of water ballet! Hallelujah! Finally something will stay on me longer than two hours. I put it on as soon as I got home from the store and spent the afternoon anxiously taking a peek every so often. It was still on! Granted, it didn’t stay on the waterline but it did make it through on the top lid. I got Matte Black but not I am tempted to go back and get a couple more colors like Pearly Brown 2L (golden brown sheen) and Star Black 1L (black sheen).
Hopes were high – NARS Orgasm is supposed to be the best color ever, right? This just made me look, well…. like I was perspiring … a lot. I couldn’t get the illuminator to incorporate with my overall look. It just didn’t want to blend. And it went above and beyond “dewy”. Plus, this famous color just looked wrong on me. I have fair skin with freckles and some age spots – unfortunately. The product made me look like I had told an inappropriate joke or had too much wine too quick. And I was sweating…
I thought I would fall in love with this stuff. And, to some extent, I did. I love that it is sheer and relatively easy to put on. It doesn’t cover up dark spots but gives a slightly more finished look. But mom didn’t give it the two thumbs up. Frankly, I understand why. The overall effect is a little matte and feathery – if that makes any sense. The blending doesn’t give that overall natural look. Next time I am going to try the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.
