Winter Skin Care For The Body on FOX23's Great Day Green Country on Belle Belle Beauty

Yesterday’s post was all about caring for skin in this dry winter weather. Today, I am moving onto the equally important body care. This morning, I’ll be on FOX23’s Great Day Green Country discussing my favorite products to protect, hydrate and nourish. But for those of you out of the area or wanting more details, here’s a sneak peek. I will also be sure to post a link to my segment later today!

Body Wash / Soap: Don’t get me wrong. I am a huge fan of bar soap. But I have been reading up on some frightening effects of using harsh cleansers on skin (i.e. my beloved Irish Spring). While you can switch over to Dove soap, I advocate a change to body wash. The classic Neutrogena Rainbath is rich yet still lathers. It also doubles as a great shave gel. And now comes in a yummy new scent in addition to Original and Grapefruit – Pear & Green Tea.

Exfoliate / Scrub: Sounds a little counterproductive to scrub at flakey, dry skin. But in order to reveal luminous and soft skin, you need to get rid of those dead skin cells. Hands down, my favorite scrub in the winter is Bliss Hot Salt Scrub. The self-heating formula relieves muscles while eucalyptus, rosemary, and, lavender essential oils provides needed sinus clearing. Gentle sea salt smooths while glycerin hydrates.

Lotion and Creams: The hydration step is all about preference, honestly. For those who want a lighter formula, I’ve found JASON Energizing Vanilla Hand & Body Lotion to not only be natural, but soothing and rehydrating. Sugar Cane and Vanilla give it a sweet but not cloying scent. And my skin remains glowing for hours on end. For those who want to super power they moisture game, creams are the way to go. Also ideal for sensitive skin, CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is a tried and true classic. The non-irritating richness works to repair the skin barrier. Their proprietary technology allows ingredients to dive deep into skin and hydrate over time.

Body Oils: Now onto my favorite, a good body oil. While I have been using these for years, they seem to be on the rise. Like Face Oils, people are starting to understand that these aren’t pore clogging grease machines, but rather effective ways to hydrate skin with a radiant result. Because this is my favorite category, I have three gems for you to consider. First up, BeautyCounter’s Lustro’s Body Oil in Rosemary & Citrus has an uplifting scent and is made entirely out of essential oils keeping it free of parabens, phthalates or synthetic fragrances. Moroccanoil Dry Body Oil is fueled with their classic scent and has an easy spray dispenser. The formula absorbs quickly and is light on the skin. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse OR Multi-Usage Dry Oil Golden Shimmer has plant oils to nourish skin and the perfect golden shimmer for an evening out – just place on shins, collarbones or anywhere else desired!

Self-tanners: Speaking of a golden glow, a little help in the bronzing department can be in order during the winter doldrums. These days, self-tanners make it so easy. My go-to has been towelettes and I usually reach for Kate Somerville 360 Tanning Towelettes or TanTowel Plus Half Body Self Tanning Towelettes. The “no mess” factor and storage makes this somewhat daunting step that much easier. And the resulting glow isn’t a dead giveaway you’ve been faking it but rather a subtle healthy glow.

Update: here’s the segment! Hope you enjoy!
