What’s In My Beach Bag

What's In My Beach Bag // Belle Belle Beauty

In less than a week, I am bound for the Caribbean! Knowing me, I’ve been pondering exactly what is going to go in that precious space to keep me safe and looking beautiful in the sand.

eos “Basket of Fruit” Smooth Sphere Lip Balm Pack is a four-pack of juicy long-time lip balm favorites including limited edition Fresh Watermelon. Also included are Strawberry Sorbet, Summer Fruit and Pomegranate Raspberry Smooth Sphere Lip Balms. The formula has great hydration and I love the ergonomic design of the spheres. Not to mention, they are easy to find at the bottom and a full and large beach bag! Recyclable and gluten-free.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration™ After Sun Lotion is the first and only after sun product combining indulgent ribbons of gel and lotion infused with silk protein and shea butter to provide luxurious moisturization for a full 24 hours. Ribbons of aloe soothe and refresh the skin from the effects of the sun, while silk protein shea butter ribbons of lotion provide incredible moisturization that leaves skin feeling hydrated, healthy and radiant.

Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15 is my go to face SPF because it has never been the least bit irritating. It is also oil-free, avoiding those pesky summer clogged pores. And even while I am staying protected, the formula includes added vitamins. I also love the Soothing Facial Toner for a refreshing clean to get off all the grime and sunscreen at the end of the day.

Tanee Tan Line Corrector, is an innovative product to eliminate those annoying tan lines. Using a pen-like applicator, just color in where you need some extra color and you’ll get an all-natural self-tan exactly where you need it. I get instant color and the shade deepens over a couple hours. No need to fret those bikini straps or strapless dresses!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater is the perfect, refreshing mist to for a pick-me-up on a hot day. The Aloe and Herbs help hydrate tight skin. I also love the way this looks under makeup for a rosy, nourished glow. It is incredibly gentle and well suited for sensitive skin.

New SimpleSkincare.com Site!

New SimpleSkincare.com Site! // Belle Belle Beauty

Well, look who got a makeover! Simple Skincare launched a new website last week and I’ve just now had a chance to swing by and check it out. While they are still rolling out features, I am particularly smitten with the recipe finder. A member of the Simple Skincare Advisory Board, Ellie Krieger offers foods that can help skin look better from the inside out.

On my radar to try out stat are the crab cakes. This recipe includes bell peppers, which are a great source of Vitamin C, and crab (a Belle Favorite), which is a great source of selenium, an antioxidant mineral that helps protect the skin from sun damage and helps to maintain skin firmness and elasticity. Yum!

She offers loads of other tips specific to skin concerns. For instance, if you have dry skin, try eating more nuts and seeds, oil-rich fish like salmon, avocado and healthy oils like olive oil. Make sure to pop over to SimpleSkincare.com and check out all the new goodness!

Deals and Steals – Simple Skincare

Deals and Steals - Simple Skincare // Belle Belle Beauty

If you are itching to try out Simple Skincare but haven’t gotten around to it… now’s your chance! Safeway is having a stellar “Buy 2, Get 2” promotion – buy two Simple Skincare products, get $2 off. What a great chance to get on a new summer regimen!

My two Simple Skincare picks with the warming weather? I keep reaching for the Oil Balancing Cleansing Wipes. They seem to do an even better job at cutting through sunscreen and summer buildup. And, at the same time, Zinc PCA refreshes and helps control shine. The Vital Vitamin Day Cream SPF 15 also helps balance me out. Somehow, it manages to keep my skin moisturized without becoming greasy in the warm weather. Not to mention keeps those clogged pores away. It also provides that crucial UVA and UVB protection.

Don’t know if you have a Safeway near you? Based on where you live, Safeway is also known as:

  • Dominick’s
  • Vons
  • Randalls
  • Tom Thumb

Inspired by Pastel Makeup for Spring

Inspired by Pastel Makeup for Spring // Belle Belle Beauty

Spring has me craving pastels. I love the look of a light feminine face as we welcome the warmer weather. It is also a great time to experiment with lighter versions of bold shades like mint green eyeshadow – surprisingly beautiful! Here are my picks for some of the Easter egg inspired shades:

Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Color in Oleander is the softest sweetest pink and this cream formula applies like a breeze.

Guerlain ‘Maxi Shine – Gloss d’Enfer’ Lip Gloss has insane shine, giving this pretty pink an even bigger impact.

For those who want to try out a higher impact, pastel eye, try Dior ‘5 Couleurs – Haute Couture’ Eyeshadow Palette. And this formula makes these powders creamy and beautifully blendable.

Deborah Lippmann Rockin’ Robbin Glitter Nail Polish features the glitter Lippmann is so good at but this time with Staccato effect, using black glitter against a pastel backdrop for a unique look!

Lancôme ‘Aquatic Essence’ Eye Palette has copper and brown mixed in with blue pastels to make the shades so wearable!

I like to prep my skin using Simple Skincare Hydrating Light Moisturizer. I haven’t found any other moisturizers that manage to balance nourishing properties while being ultra-lightweight. And bonus that the formula is chock full of vitamins to help improve the appearance of my skin over the long term.

Simple Skincare’s Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15

Simple Skincare's Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15 // Belle Belle Beauty

I mentioned in this post how I am taking a more intense approach to my skin care. And it is working! But with all that hard work, I am dead set on protecting that progress. And the only way to do that… is with a love affair with SPF. The one I’ve been reaching for most on a day-to-day basis has been Simple Skincare’s new Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF.

My last daily SPF was lovely, but so often made my eyes water and itch. I finally pegged the problem – too many fragrances and perfumes. Simple’s answer is a formula without artificial perfumes or harsh irritants. The oil-free, non-greasy formula is rich but lightweight and packed with vitamins. Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E nourish skin while Glycerin, Allantoin, Bisabolol hydrate and soften.

Rest assured this SPF works great under makeup and is hydrating enough to act as a daily moisturizer on my dry skin. Not to mention, easy on the pocketbook!

Good Skin from Inside Out – Tips From Simple Skincare’s Experts

Screen shot 2013-03-27 at 5.03.37 PM

Did you know that Simple Skincare has its own group of experts to share all sorts of tips and tricks to keep our skin looking great? I didn’t until I was appointed an ambassador at the beginning of this year. In the interest of a new season, I thought today would be a great time to share some tips (ones that I hadn’t heard) to get us ready for the warmer months. And, I truly believe skin can look good from the inside out, so I am including tips from Simple Nutritionist, Ellie Krieger, especially since I am on a food lifestyle journey myself!

Limit Caffeine and Hydrate Deliciously!
You don’t need to give up your morning cup of Joe! A little caffeine is okay, but drinking too much caffeine can have some serious downsides, such as anxiety, restlessness and problems sleeping.  If you need an energy boost, quenching your thirst with a more hydrating beverage, like water, may be just what you and your skin need, since one of the first signs of dehydration is fatigue, and getting enough water is important for nourishing healthy skin. For something with even more flavor and skin-loving benefits, try this watermelon water. Just put chunks of watermelon in your water pitcher, with some fresh mint leaves if you’d like, and let it sit for an hour or more to infuse the water with flavor. You can try this with cantaloupe or honeydew as well.

Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth Smartly
Foods that quickly raise your blood sugar (called high glycemic foods), such as refined sugars and baked goods, may also contribute to increased skin oil production.  For a sweet treat that is better for you and your skin, try fresh apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon instead of your usual dessert.  It could help you help decrease shine and boost your confidence.

Tomatoes to Combat Fine Lines
Fine lines are a natural part of aging, but you may be able to help combat them with the right diet. Tomatoes contain an antioxidant that may reduce the appearance of fine lines. Try an easy spinach salad with chopped tomatoes. Top your salad with almonds or sunflower seeds; their vitamin E may also help protect against wrinkles. Add a splash of extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a dash of salt for a tasty and effective skin-loving salad.

Berries For Brighter Skin
Healthy skin is lustrous and beautiful, and incorporating anti-oxidant rich foods into your diet may help keep it that way. For a powerful antioxidant boost, start your day with a berry bowl containing strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. They all may help to combat dullness, helping you to maintain supple and radiant skin.

Under Eye Skin Health with Antioxidant-Rich Foods
Your eyes are the windows to your soul – and the skin surrounding them is some of the most sensitive skin on your face. So help keep your under eye skin healthy-looking with a healthy diet, including more antioxidant-rich foods, like red bell peppers and black beans. Put them together for a fantastic antioxidant-rich salsa. Just combine diced bell peppers with corn and black beans. Add a chopped jalapeño if you want a little heat. Toss together with some olive oil, a squeeze of fresh lime juice, a little fresh-ground pepper and a pinch of salt. Enjoy as a snack with baked tortilla chips or on top of grilled chicken or fish. Your taste-buds and your under eye skin will thank you.
