Shiseido Suncare and Melanoma Awareness Month

Shimmied Suncare and Melanoma Awareness Month on Belle Belle Beauty

We are almost to the end of Melanoma Awareness Month and I couldn’t let it slip by without a friendly reminder for sun safety. I have Melanoma in my family and strive to wear sunscreen all the time. I also go for yearly skin checks from my dermatologist. One of the brands I often turn to when pool weather comes around is Shiseido. Not only are they great for active coverage but everyday use and specialty protection. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends these Shiseido products.

Some of my favorites include:

Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion WetForce Broad Spectrum SPF 50+

This water-friendly SPF becomes even more effective on the applied area when exposed to water for 15 minutes. It also helps a ton with dryness – my beef with hot summer weather. It is high, effective protection without feeling heavy.

Sun Protection Eye Cream SPF34

How unique! I had never heard of an eye SPF, but I am in. This is part of my new, everyday summer routine. The rich formula protects and minimizes the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It also fights dryness and adds a radiant finish – something I definitely wouldn’t mind around the pool or at the office.

Available at Sephora and Nordstrom.

Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation

Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation on Belle Belle Beauty

A little over a year ago I was introduced to Shiseido’s foundations. It was the beginning of a love-affair. I love the weightless nature and considerable amount of coverage. Add in the fact that the foundations look natural and luminous and you can understand why I love Shiseido Sheer & Perfect Foundation.

The newest foundation from Shiseido, Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation, is a slightly heavier version that actually comes in a tub. It was designed as part of the Future Solution LX skincare which recently hit shelves – although I haven’t yet had the chance to try it.

I’m one to be drawn towards luminous finishes, so this radiant foundation is my perfect texture. The formula adds vibrance and lifting making it well-suited for more mature skin. And bonus points for the SPF 20 that is plenty of protection during office days in the winter months.

I like scooping out a dime size and using the beauty blender sponge to apply. I also have been mixing it with this NARS luminator for an uber-radiant finish. I skip the powder and embrace a “lit within” look.

Available at Saks and made in USA.

Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color

Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color on Belle Belle Beauty

For Spring, Shiseido added eight new shades to their Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color lineup. These candy colored shades were lovely to look at but a little intimidating to apply. The exception is Yuba, a warm yellow gold, that I have been reaching for as an eyeshadow base for weeks. Esmaralda (a striking teal) and Konpeito (a golden rosy red) sat untested on my bathroom counter. But that’s not the end of the story…

First, a little about the texture of these gems. Previously, I had only really fallen for drugstore cream shadows. But this luxury version delights with their lightweight texture and elegant finish. The luminous pigments look natural, not glittery. And their staying power blows the budget versions out of the water.

Back to the neglected pots of bold shadow. While perusing devouring the latest Allure Magazine, I came across an article about rose eyelids. I ran immediately to my makeup and grabbed Konpeito. Using my fingers, I blended a wash of color from crease to lash. And I’ll be darned if it wasn’t the prettiest, softest feminine look. Then, inspired by my boldness, I grabbed Esmaralda and discovered a much more opaque shade. While I wouldn’t rock this on a daily basis, the bold teal made for a fresh and inspired eye.

Shades from top to bottom: Yuba (BE217), Konpeito (RS318) and Esmaralda (BL620).

Getting Full Brows

Getting Full Brows // Belle Belle Beauty

Full brows have been in for several seasons in a row and I’ve happily forgotten how to achieve thin, sculpted arches. Recently, I’ve even gone so far as to just let my brows grow wild. Sure… I’ll tweet a stray hair but it has to be really rogue for me to go after it. Instead, I add fullness and make sure hairs are brushed and set. Thanks to hypothyroidism, the ends of my brows lack fullness, but powders and pencils help add natural volume. If you are like me and are going after full, natural yet tamed brows, here are my favorite brow goodies to achieve the look:

Urban Decay packed everything you need into their new Brow Box. Despite its super tiny size, Brow Box contains two shades of brow powder, setting wax, mini tweezers, two angled brushes and two mirrors (one magnified). The inky powders look natural and have great staying power despite their soft texture. The wax grips without being sticky. And so handy to have tweezers right there should you find a stray.

If you prefer a singular tool, try the NARS Brow Perfector. The waxy texture actually drys velvety matte. And the formula prevents any mistakes from a heavy hand. While it can be hard to great a dramatic look, Brow Perfector is ideal for achieve natural looking, full brows.

Shiseido Eyebrow Styling Compact offers a dark brown shade if you need/prefer a deeper shade. The duo powders can be blended for subtle coloring and shading. The included applicator is dual ended with a sharp tool (for bold looks) and a brush (for a more natural effect). The formula has great staying power but still is creamy and blendable.

The ultimate in luxury (and a fan favorite), Tom Ford Brow Sculptor has an angled, waxy calligraphy tip, included sharpener and grooming brush on the opposite end. The angled tip allows for both thin and wide strokes. The waxy consistency helps hold shape and color.

Shiseido’s NEW IBUKI collection

Shiseido's NEW IBUKI collection // Belle Belle Beauty

After a short blog break, excited to bring you some great news about a skin care line designed for women ages 25 to 34 that is just blowing me away with delight. But first, a little on what I have been up to. First, I am working on my column for Oklahoma Magazine. October should be out soon so can’t wait to share that with you next week. I’ve lined up my first “Belle’s Blog School” with some old friends for next month. Excited to try out a new services I will be offering for those who want a one-on-one crash course on how to get up and running on WordPress, Tumbler and social media. Lastly, I’ve been so run down, fighting off a cold for a week. Why is it I always bring back some illness from NYC? Headed out this afternoon to load up on Kleenex and green juice. But now… back to Shiseido’s newest!

Even though I am on the older end of the target age range for this line, I have found its rich, gentle luxury perfect for my skin. I know so many of you readers, fellow bloggers and friends suffer from the blotchy, dry skin thanks to loads of office time and a little play time as well. Cocktails and unhealthy food binges, anyone?

The new IBUKI collection is designed to address uneven skin tone, blemishes, visible pores, and dryness. It uses Shape Memorizing Cell Technology to align and optimize cells. I’ve been using the Purifying Cleanser (which reminds me of my beloved Clé de Peau Beauté Gentle Cleansing Foam – no surprise as they share a parent company). I love how it gently scrubs with very find granules while still foaming. My skin is left clean but not stripped of moisture. The Refining Moisturizer is for those looking for a lotion rather than a thick cream. While it is lightweight, I get all day hydration but I never feel greasy. This thinner moisturizer works great under makeup. Meanwhile, it is correcting pores, breakouts and unevenness. Lastly, I have been test driving Eye Correcting Cream. I’m getting a definite boost in brightness, especially fighting this cold and a couple late nights. The formula is rich but gentle and not too thick.

Other items available from the collection are:

Available at Shiseido.com, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Bergdorf Goodman and Macy’s.
