Fall Nails By Revlon: Moon Candy in Satellite

Fall Nails By Revlon: Moon Candy in Satellite // Belle Belle Beauty

Sure, fall calls for a classic red nail. But sometimes you need something a little more seductive. I’ve been loving these nail polish duos from Revlon, basically two colors in one. And #230 Satellite Moon Candy Nail Art features that classic autumnal shade, oxblood. I hate that word, but I can’t think of a better way to describe the classic but edgy color. The shade leans slightly more brown than cherry. It is office friendly, but still so much like my beloved black when I am feeling a bit moody. I layered two coats for an inky but still shiny look and finish.

Layer on the opaque cream shade. Which is just so rich looking. But then, got a girls night out? Or… feeling playful? Touch up with golden flakes. It might appear like pink glitter in the bottle, but it actually is flakes of golden foil. I just layered that shade on top of the oxblood for a totally different look. Not to mention that more textured coat will make your mani last for days and days on end!

Happy Birthday Belle Belle – Drugstore Favorites and a Giveaway

Happy Birthday Belle Belle - Drugstore Favorites and a Giveaway

Now, I am three for three. Every single year, I somehow manage to miss my blog birthday! On September 15th, Belle Belle turned three years old! In fact, this is the 836th post. Whoa – that is a lot of chatting about beauty. In honor of the (belated) celebration, I’ve teamed up with CVS for a red-hot giveaway. And I am going to share some of my favorite drugstore buys from the last couple of weeks.

L’Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur is like nothing I’ve tried before. Technically a “finishing cream” this magical stuff actually blurs lines and uneven texture. The gel-like texture finishes skin with a matte finish, prepping it for tinted moisturizer or foundation (of which amazingly I find I need less of). Meanwhile, Rivitalift goes to work smoothing and lifting skin over time.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Pearl Black Cherry was a purchase inspired by my friend and blogging buddy, Opinion Nothing. When we had dinner last week, she was rocking a bold, dark and rich lip. While it wasn’t this exact shade, I love the berry, purplish stain of Black Cherry. It gives my skin a little bit of a fancy Snow White / goth look that I love for fall.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Eyeliner in Violet and Cobalt are both great budget ways to play with color. These liners have a rich and soft pencil with vibrant pigments. I like layering both over darker liquid liner for a little twist on a cat eye look. The smudging tool on the opposite end is perfect if you wish to work the color further up the lid for a bolder look.

Speaking of liquid eyeliner, I am finally trying out Covergirl Line Exact Liquid Liner Pen – I had been hearing rave reviews. At first, I was so mad that I had accidentally bought brown rather than black. But I actually like the softer look it gives. The felt pen feels far more luxurious than the drugstore price point. And the ultra-pigmented liquid dries fast and stays all day.

Revlon Lash Potion Volume & Length Mascara by Grow Luscious in Black just might have been inspired by those gorgeous Emma Stone ads. While the effect isn’t as “false-like” like other formulas, I love that it contains strengthening proteins, amino acids and essential vitamins – which all work to improve the look of lashes. I get tons of product on the soft, classic and large wand. And natural full lashes ensue.

Now for the good part. CVS and I have teamed up together to giveaway! I am a huge fan of CVS Beauty Club and thanks to my (frequent) beauty purchases, I can’t tell you how much I love those loyalty benefits like $5 ExtraBucks for every $50 spent on beauty. I also love shopping there because you can return any beauty product and get a full refund within 60 days of purchase. (sign up here) So now here is your chance to win a $50 CVS Gift Card. Favorite Summer Finds From The Drugstore

Favorite Summer Finds From The Drugstore // Belle Belle Beauty

Beauty doesn’t have to be budget busting! Here are some favorite things I’ve found either in the drugstore aisles over the past couple of weeks.

gud, a line of natural products from Burt’s Bees has long been a favorite. I love natural products at such a great price point. One thing they do particularly well is Natural Body Wash in Vanilla Flame and Ruby Red Groovy. I am huge lover of vanilla scents and this one is balanced and not too sweet. I also love rotating in Ruby Red Groovy with its zesty and energizing notes of grapefruit and mandarin. The formulas are packed with hydrating Sunflower Seed Oil, Black Walnut Leaf Extract and Raspberry Leaf extract. Not tested on animals.

I adore spray sunscreens (just remember to heavily cover the area you need to protect). The newest from Coppertone is perfect for those “so hot you can’t get out of the pool for more than two minutes” kind of days. Coppertone Wet ‘n Clear Continuous Spray Sunscreen, SPF 45 has great a great SPF factor and cuts through water while also being water resistant, making it perfect to apply to wet skin. I also love that it doesn’t leave a white cast – it is perfectly clear.

I picked up the CoverGirl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers Lip Gloss on a whim and they are literally one of my new most favorite things. Always a sucker for something fruit (a la lip smackers), these guys have a great flavor. I selected up Watermelon Splash and Guave Splash on a recent CVS trip (right now, CVS has CoverGirl buy 1, get one 50% off). But not only is the flavor great… but the actually lip balm is a winner. Not too sticky but packed with shine. It also conditions with botanical ingredients.

Always searching for a multi-tasker, I was smitten with the IMAN Bronzing Powder in Afterglow. This trio can be worn as a bronzer or a blush. I’ve found when I mix all three colors it is a dark and rosy bronzer. It is pretty dramatic on my medium toned skin, but I love it for when I really want to bronze it up. And it would be stunning on those with darker skin tones. It has a sheer and radiant finish.

The Revlon PhotoReady Kajal Intense Eye Liner + Brightener is all over magazines lately and I just had to get my paws on one of em. I always wear black eyeliner, but with the casual summer days and nights, I wanted something a little more playful. I was so tempted to go with Blue Nile, but to bring out my green in my eyes, I selected Purple Reign. The light end works great on my lower water line to brighten eyes. And the regal gives my hazel eyes a sparkle. The pencil is soft and applies easily and I get a day of wear time out of the liner.

Drugstore Hits and Misses

1. Almay Eyeshadow Trio Smoky Smoky Hazel – Sorry to start out on a negative note, but skip this guy. The powder has very little pigment and is quite dry. I like the idea of a kit that caters to eye color, but they missed on this one.

2. L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow – Instead, pick up these pots. They look like pressed powder but have a creamy formula. They apply like a dream. I wish they had more colors and some less metallic options but only because I love them so much. I have Endless Pearl, which is relatively matte and a great base color. Bronze Taupe is a beautiful, warm and multifaceted neutral. These appear much more expensive than they are. Also, they mean it when they say don’t discard the little interior plastic to press down the product. If it isn’t on there the powder loosens. Whoopsie.

3. Ardell Fashion Lashes Black (110) – I am relatively new to false lashes and was incredibly intimidated to try them. But I gave it a whirl with these, using Duo adhesive. It was a breeze! They look very natural and I got loads of compliments. They were comfortable to wear didn’t damage my own lashes. Use tweezers to hold the lash strip. Put a dot of glue on the back of your hand. Slowly and carefully dip the lash strip into the glue several times along base of the lashes. Lay onto your lashes, add mascara and liner to blend with your own!

4. Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Blackest Black – This guy is an award winner and no surprise why. The formula has massive staying power. The color is a perfect, deep black. The brush is easy to handle. Need I say more?

5. Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Coffee Cake – I’ve been ooing and ahing about this innovative product all over the social media waves. The texture is what makes this blush different. It almost feels like a makeup applicator sponge at first. It is malleable but springs back. It applies like a cream, but dries to a long staying powder appearance. The effect is not matte but there is no shimmer (which I love). I picked up Coffee Cake, a nude peach that works great for a tonal, natural face.

6. eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balm – I reviewed these here, but I just had to mention them again. They are fabulous balms and are so easy to find in a big purse. They have loads of flavors with medicated and SPF options.

7. Maybelline Color Tatoo 24HR Eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze – Another standout drugstore eyeshadow. This is creamier than the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow, with slighly less pigment but a little more staying power. Bad to the Bronze is a lighter version of Bronze Taupe. I also wish this came in more colors because I love it so. Many of the shades are dramatic and on the cooler side.

8. eos Shave Cream, Ultra Moisturizing, Lavender Jasmine – If you like a foaming shave cream, this isn’t for you. But the smell is what sold me. It also comes in pomegranate raspberry, island blue, cucumber melon, vanilla bliss and sensitive – fragrance free. It is massively hydrating and almost feels like conditioner.

9. eos Refresh Active Care Hand and Body Lotion – Again, they got me on the fabulous scent. The fresh cucumber lingers just enough. It isn’t greasy in the least bit. These products aren’t tested on animals and paraban-free. I’m becoming quite the eos fan.

Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter

This is my current drugstore MVP. Not only is it my favorite drugstore lipstick, but it actually performs just as well as other more expensive lip color products. What distinguishes this price performer is the butter-like balm consistancy.

Lip color looks awful on dry lips. I’m known to just forget the whole lipstick thing in those dry winter months. But I have found that Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter can actually heal dry lips with mango, shea and coconut butter. After the first couple of days of testing these guys, my lips actually looked better – healthy and moisturized.

I’ve found the coverage depends on the shades, but they all have a shiny finish. Of my three favorites, Red Velvet is the most opaque. Strawberry Shortcake is a sheer, frosty pink (perfect for spring). And Creme Brulee is a neutral, sheer peach. There is no scent or taste to these colors. And they don’t last longer than an hour or so. But they feel so good to apply, that I don’t mind.

Prices vary, but they are $7.49 at drugstore.com. And right now (through 3/9), drugstore.com is offering 20% off purchases in their Beauty department. Just click here and use code BEAUTY20.

Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain and Balm

I haven’t ever really been a “lip stain girl”, but the claims of longevity sucked me right in.  I didn’t want to splurge and I had already heard good things about Revlon’s so I picked one up. The stain was easy to apply and not near as drying as I expected.  And man, does this stuff wear forever!  What a treat to not have your makeup coming off as you sip from a glass.

I found it pretty easy to use, as the pen is tapered and making minor adjustments comes easy. I do recommend a bold color for maximum effect.  Layering the pigment will keep the color from appearing splotchy after a couple hours. I find this to be less drying than the other brands I have tested – but it is a stain so the balm step is highly encouraged. My only beef is the cap on the balm always knocks the balm out! So I usually skip and use an alternative lipgloss.
