Soft Pink Lips

Soft Pink Lips // Belle Belle Beauty

Sure, we are in the throws of autumn’s dark and vampy lips. And don’t get me wrong, I am really starting to love wearing a bold shade. But sometimes you just want a soft, feminine and easy-to-wear pink. Rounding out my six favorite pinky neutrals (in the above photo, starting top left going clockwise and top to bottom in the swatches below):

Soft Pink Lips // Belle Belle Beauty

Jouer lipstick in Sophia is a shade launched for fall. I fell hard for this formula at New York Fashion Week when I stopped by Birchbox’s pop up shop for a little mini-makeover. While I wore the shade Grace that day, I knew Sophia was going to be the one I reached for over and over again. Actually part of their new “Find Your Perfect Red” collection, this creamy rose is their pick for warmer complexions. The formula has loads of hydration and a buttery finish that makes it easy to wear.

MAC Mineralize collection finally delivered a foundation that played well with my drier skin. And it also offered creamy and rich lipsticks that hydrate my ultra-dry lips. I picked up Grande Dame, a slightly darker rose with just a hint of shimmer and frost. The color is relatively opaque with great lasting wear.

NARS Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Viva is my pick if shine is your goal. I love the tiny applicator brush which allows for maximum precision. While Larger Than Life is a true lip gloss, you can expect a ton of pigment. And natural voluminizers work to plump lips.

Flower Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color in So Gladiola is rose with a hint of orange and a matte finish. The pigment in these lipsticks are luxury at a drugstore price point. Despite the finish, the formula contains an emollient so my lips stay hydrated and the color stays smooth.

Probably one of my all time favorite gloss formulas, bareMinerals marvelous MOXIE in Party Starter has a pop of coral. But because it is a gloss, the effect on me ends up being fairly rosy. Shea and avocado nourish lips and a minty effect gives a bit of a tingle.

NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Isola Bella is ultimately so wearable. The shade is a rosy nude with a creamy, shiny finish. The pencil packaging allows for precise application, important with the pigment-packed formula. Expect lots of wear time from this twist on a lipstick.

NEW Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick

NEW Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick // Belle Belle Beauty

Feeling a little bit sassy at this year’s NYFW, I chose quite the sassy lip to rock over the weekend: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in 69. And in the meantime I’ve also fallen hard for F-Bomb. But this lipstick isn’t all about naughty names. It is about a stellar formula that makes wearing these deep shades a cinch even with my dry lips.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick is a version of that buttery, creamy lipstick we are seeing on counters. But Urban Decay really does it right with glide-on smoothness and intense color payoff thanks to Urban Decay’s Pigment Dispersion System™. The finish is shiny and opaque with just one layer. It plays so well with my drier lips thanks to jojoba oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter and shea butter. While it is available in 20 shades from nude to deep berry, may I suggest one of these reds above for a fall pop. Check out all the shades here:

Available at Sephora, Macy’s, Ulta and Beauty.com.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in 69

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in 69 // Belle Belle Beauty

Three years ago, when I started this blog, I was terrified of color on my lips. Honestly, it still isn’t my first instinct when it comes to dressing my pout for the day or evening. But after what felt like two weeks in NYC (it was five days of pure, non-stop inspiration and fun), I was looking a little haggard. And I turned to something artists always told me would “wake up my face”.

So, a little background on why I find red or bold lips hard: I have dry dry skin (as confirmed at the Mario Badescu Salon this week in NYC – more on that later). So, lipsticks can often look flaky on me. Probably why I love these nude glosses from today’s earlier post here.

But the reason I was willing to give this version from Urban Decay a whirl was their promised creamy texture that still provided a massive color payoff. Leave it to Urban Decay to get pigment right. The rich and buttery formula just slid on my lips like a balm, but I walked away with some seriously red lips with a pink undertone. Not to mention, I was able to answer with a naughty “Urban Decay 69” when so many people asked me what shade I was wearing. And I can vouch that despite the dark circles, dry skin and yawns… I didn’t hear once that I looked tired.

But the good news for those who don’t want to go quite that bold… this formula comes in a whopping 20 shades for all tastes. So how does Urban Decay work this magic? They use a proprietary “Maxi-Lip” that hydrates and plumps. While jojoba oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter and shea butter keep lips moisturized.

And in typical Urban Decay fashion, their weighty and luxe packaging comes through in a heavy gunmetal tube that is almost as sexy putting on as it is pulling it out of your clutch.

Available at Sephora and urbandecay.com.

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo // Belle Belle Beauty

As I’ve come to know Hourglass Cosmetics, the brand more and more just screams sexy to me. Their packaging, products and luxury send me directly to a sultry place. So I wasn’t surprised to see their newest launch “Notorious Nudes” Femme Nude Lip Stylo is particularly seductive.

This set of six nude lip crayons have a creamy, medium to full-coverage formula and satin finish. The texture is close to lipstick and not unlike the NARS Velvet Lip Pencils. Like other Hourglass products, the packaging is nothing less than ultimate luxury. The heavy metal tube is modern and robust. There is no sharpening this guy – the actual product is retractable making precise application a breeze. Even on my dry lips, the vitamin E packed formula doesn’t cake or flake. It is also paraben, phthalates, fragrance and sulfate free and not tested on animals.

The six shades span quite a range, ensuring all skin tones can find their perfect match. I’ve been wearing Nude No 4, a pink beige nude with a touch of deep rose. It looks like a very slightly lighter shade than my natural skin tone with more pink. Other available shades:

  • Nude No 1 – A pale pink nude, the lightest of the collection.
  • Nude No 2 – A honey beige nude with a warm tint.
  • Nude No 3 – A medium rose nude with a hint of pink.
  • Nude No 5 – A golden peach nude with luminosity.
  • Nude No 6 – A mauve nude, the deepest nude of the collection.
