Brand Spotlight: Taya

Brand Spotlight: Taya on Belle Belle Beauty

This little indie brand really channels the rainforest into their hair products. Using the botanicals found in her native Venezuela, Patricia Velasquez was inspired by her Wayúu heritage. The Wayúu are an ancient and indigenous people of the La Guajira Peninsula straddling the Venezuela-Colombia border on the Caribbean Sea. Using these raw and unprocessed materials lends to unique results-oriented formulas.

EveryOne Hand Soaps on Belle Belle Beauty

I’m kind of a hand soap junkie. This year alone I have fallen hard for Aesop and NEST. But this new EveryOne Hand Soaps offers a pure, organic, gluten-free and cruelty-free option at a great price. Every one of EO Products items are made thoughtfully. The are free of parabens, disodium EDTA, sodium lauryl, phthalates, petrochemicals, artificial or synthetic fragrances, chemical preservatives, silicone, propopylene glycol, detergent, mineral oil, triclosan, EDTA, aluminum and sulfates. Phew!

Ralph Lauren’s Dog Walk Campaign Benefiting The ASPCA

Screen Shot 2013-11-13 at 5.54.11 PM

A little break from beauty in honor of my other passion: dogs! Through Friday, in honor of Ralph Lauren’s Dog Walk campaign, 10% of proceeds from selected Dog Walk merchandise goes to the ASPCA and helps promote shelter adoption. The company produced a little fashion show of fall accessories and some pretty sweet shelter dogs. If you know me or follow me on social media, you know I am a complete dog nut. My girls, Tink and Izzy, are my world. So join me and the girls and let’s go shopping!

Londontown Nail Treatment and Color

Londontown Nail Treatment and Color // Belle Belle Beauty

I’ve been putting my nails through the ringer lately, testing and reviewing loads of nail art and polish. But amazingly, my nails have never been stronger or longer. Under all those coats, I’ve been using Londontown kur Nail Hardener. Not only is it improving the condition of my nails, but the entire Londontown line has crazy healthy formulations.

Londontown was created when founder Natasha Dillon noticed negative effects of UV gels (they always leave my nails stripped and weak too). Building on a family remedy, Natasha developed kur, a treatment system, and lakur, nail color. Both kur and lakur are “5-free” (Formaldehyde-free, Toulene-free, DBP-free, Formaldehyde resin-free and Camphor-free), vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free. And the entire line is infused with rapeseed flower oil, evening primrose and biotin to strengthen and hydrate nails.

This line isn’t all about treatment. The lakur line has fabulous and fashion-forward shades. They are infused with the same healing ingredients. A sample of two favorites:

Also impressive, the Protective Top Coat contains nourishing vitamins and minerals and leaves nails chip-resistant and glossy. If you are in the market for a little rehab in the manicure department, look no further. This line is guilt-free and performs. Shop the post here:

COOLA Mineral Face Sunscreen

COOLA Mineral Face Sunscreen // Belle Belle Beauty

I’ve found a new favorite face SPF in COOLA’s new mineral collection. They are formulated with my beloved physical sunblockers, yet have the most transparent application and beautiful finish! These three formulas are all slightly different, each suited for preferences and skin type. And I love that it is a feel-good product; all formulas are vegan friendly, cruelty-free and organic.

First up is the Mineral SPF 30 Cucumber Matte Finish which has a light and natural cucumber scent. The lotion is white but applies transparent. The finish is silky, matte and works well under makeup. It is also made with organic Rose Hip Oil, rich in free radical fighting Vitamin C. Shea Butter smooths and hydrates skin. This is my pick for those who have oilier skin or those who need a gluten-free formula.

COOLA’s Mineral SPF 30 Unscented Matte Tint has the same abundant organic ingredients as the Cucumber Matte Finish, but has a very slight tint. Also well suited for oilier skin, this could be worn on its own for very very light coverage. And if you are sensitive to or prefer no scent, this is right up your alley! This one is also gluten-free.

Mineral SPF 20 Rose Essence Tint is my personal favorite. Most like a true CC Cream, this formula provides a little bit of coverage and much needed hydration. Rose, usually not my favorite scent, is very light and actually pleasant – likely because of its organic nature. This one is also zinc-free for those who are sensitive to that ingredient. Organic Acai Oil contains vitamins and Omaga-3s, providing defense against aging. Organic Sunflower Seed Extract and Linseed Oil help with elasticity and redness. And Cucumber Extract helps calm my easily irritated skin.

From transparent to tinted, unscented to roses, you can’t go wrong with these from COOLA. Take your pick at coolasuncare.com.

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo // Belle Belle Beauty

As I’ve come to know Hourglass Cosmetics, the brand more and more just screams sexy to me. Their packaging, products and luxury send me directly to a sultry place. So I wasn’t surprised to see their newest launch “Notorious Nudes” Femme Nude Lip Stylo is particularly seductive.

This set of six nude lip crayons have a creamy, medium to full-coverage formula and satin finish. The texture is close to lipstick and not unlike the NARS Velvet Lip Pencils. Like other Hourglass products, the packaging is nothing less than ultimate luxury. The heavy metal tube is modern and robust. There is no sharpening this guy – the actual product is retractable making precise application a breeze. Even on my dry lips, the vitamin E packed formula doesn’t cake or flake. It is also paraben, phthalates, fragrance and sulfate free and not tested on animals.

The six shades span quite a range, ensuring all skin tones can find their perfect match. I’ve been wearing Nude No 4, a pink beige nude with a touch of deep rose. It looks like a very slightly lighter shade than my natural skin tone with more pink. Other available shades:

  • Nude No 1 – A pale pink nude, the lightest of the collection.
  • Nude No 2 – A honey beige nude with a warm tint.
  • Nude No 3 – A medium rose nude with a hint of pink.
  • Nude No 5 – A golden peach nude with luminosity.
  • Nude No 6 – A mauve nude, the deepest nude of the collection.
