Chantecaille Gel Liner Pencil

I am a sucker for innovation.  So, it wasn’t tough to get me to try the first ever gel liner in a wooden pencil format.  Add in an amazingly high quality brush on the other end and I was sold.

Chantecaille recently released this pencil in two colors: Jet and Hematite.  Jet was stunning, but the smokey, metallic grey called my name.  The color is quite dark, and full of pigment.  But it is a great alternative to black.  You definitely can detect the silver/grey when applied, but its effect is still inky.

The application is exactly like a gel liner applied with a brush.  There was no pulling, but the application lent to precision.  Flipping over to the other side, the brush was perfect for fine-tuning and striking the perfect mini-wing.

Just like other gel liners, the liner stayed like a champ all day.  And there is something so retro and rewarding, sharpening that wooden pencil, old-fashioned style.

Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream

Trying a new tool to treat my stressed skin, prone to redness.  While I am not as dry as I was this winter, I have learned I tend to underestimate how hydrated my skin is.  And a boost in collagen production can’t hurt either (provided by essential oils, seaweed, vitamins and flowers). Even though edelweiss flower is a natural UVA/UVB protection, I still encourage everyone to use a physical sunblock with zinc and titanium oxide.  This is actually more a lotion than a cream in consistency so don’t expect a heavy layer of moisture, but a couple of layers make for soft and supple, hydrated skin.  And after a couple evenings of use, I do think the redness in my face has diminished.

Chantecaille Pure Rosewater

Those Evian spray bottles from the 1980’s remind me of my grandmother.  And while I am fond of the memories, I never understood what that spray did.  But with my 30s came, drier and more sensitive skin and have started paying attention to anything soothing and anti-aging.  I have found this line is really well suited to sensitive skin so I was happy to give this rosewater a shot.  A bonus: rosewater has been proven to improve skin clarity (nothing worse than an adult pimple). I am not sure how I feel about the pedigree of the roses – wouldn’t regular roses do? The formula uses the purest petals from roses in the hills of Grasse, France during the month of May.  I think the pretty packaging adds to the hefty price tag.  But this spray really is refreshing.  It instantly relieves angry skin and for adult acne, anything is worth a shot. Eye Makeup Remover Done Right

I can’t stand greasy eye makeup remover that leaves 30% of your face feeling like an oil slick.  But I have gentle skin, so I looked for something effective but not drying.  I came up a winner with two great products.  Lumene SENSITIVE TOUCH Cleansing Wipes are  great to travel with, Alcohol-free and developed in co-operation with the Allergy and Asthma Federation. Makeup came off fast and there was no redness.  The other winner was Chantecaille Rose Eye MakeUp Remover, a gentle eye make remover that is actually soothing and hydrating.  The formula also promises brightening.  But my favorite part is how pretty it looks in my bathroom.  The Chantecaille brand always makes such beautiful vessels for their products.
