Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM

One of my new year’s resolutions was to finally start using anti-aging products…and use them religiously.  But I love trying new products (clearly) so integrating one product, long term, in my routine is tough.  The trials of a beauty junkie.  But this Retinol Fusion PM made the cut.  My skin didn’t do well with prescription retinol products (think red, dry and peeling).  So I was a little nervous using a product with retinol in it.  The serum did not agitate my skin at all.  In fact, it was soothing and moisturizing.  I do think I have seen collagen improvement. A bonus is that it also has vitamin C & E. I know these products are an investment, but so far, it has been a good one for me.

Yes to Cucumbers Facial Towelettes

This is my new travel staple. I absolutely hate to check luggage for short weekend trips, so this is a great face cleanser solution you don’t have to fit in those charming plastic baggies. I particularly like the Yes to Cucumbers line by Yes to Carrots because it is calming, but still exfoliates and rejuvenates. What could be better after being on an airplane? The smell is clean and natural, while not being overwhelming. The Towelettes remove dirt, sweat and even eye makeup. They are especially handy for those evenings you are too tired to even contemplate the whole face routine because they are so quick and easy to use.

Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer

I first was introduced to the Face Finishing Moisturizer when I received a sample with purchase.  That is pretty much all it took to get my hooked.  While I like Creme de La Mer, it can be a bit heavy during the summer or in the mornings.  This moisturizer has a consistency more like a lotion, but still  provides all the hydration that a cream would. I love that it is paraben-free and loaded with antioxidants.  The moisturizer contains Vitamin C, fulfilling part of a new year’s skin care resolution.  Even though it is loaded with anti-oxidents and anti-aging ingredients, it does not smell or act medicinal in the least bit.  It dries matte but is still luminizing, so no wonder photographers like to work with it.  It is worth the splurge and I think it will be outstanding during the summer months.

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm With Pomegranate Oil

I am a lip balm connoisseur.  I have one stashed at my desk, by my bed, by my couch… well, you get the point.  When I was home for the holidays, my Texas skin got dried out in the cold weather and, horror!, I was without a lip balm.  After a trip to the local Whole Foods, I was back in business. This lip balm has been catapulted to my favorite in no time.  Not sticky, really moisturizing, doesn’t taste too sweet and I could swear it adds just a pinch of color.

La MER ‘The Eye Concentrate’

I’m a lucky girl… my mom shares her La Mer samples with me.  Given the price point of La Mer products, it is hard to recommend them to the public at large… but I just can’t help myself.  Over Thanksgiving, my mom generously donated five samples of La MER ‘The Eye Concentrate’ to me.  I have dark circles – it’s genetic (thanks, dad!).  For the last four days, I have used the concentrate morning and night and I actually think it looks better.  I guess if I had been rubbing hundred dollar bills on my eyes, I would think the same thing.  But hey – who’s against the power of suggestion.  If you come across samples, or are in for a splurge, this is good stuff.

Josie Maran 100% Organic Argan Oil

I never was very hot on the idea of putting oil on my face.  I get that it really is good for almost all types of skin, but it just seemed counter-intutive to me.  But recently I received a sample of Josie Maran 100% Organic Argan Oil.  Maybe because I have recently hit my 30s, but this product was a breath of fresh air.  I didn’t become dry a couple hours later, which I find sometimes can happen with lotions.  I did not feel greasy in the least bit.  I am definitely going to try it on my cuticles as suggested.  I look forward to seeing what it can do for my face, long-term.
