Dry Winter Skin

19f487a680f9fb1ecc8aa139b2afac7f

Our winter has been fairly mild in the precipitation department. But a huge cold front rolled in this weekend and my skin has been insanely dry. Like itchy, scaly dry. I know that isn’t pretty but it is what it is. Plus, one of my resolutions was to fully embrace Retin-A so my face is kind of a dry mess too. So I thought I’d share my favorite dry skin remedies.

First up, the dreaded dry lips. I love Lucas’ Papaw Ointment. This fruit derived balm has been around for 100+ years and is the holy grail (IMO) to cure dry, winter lips.

Thanks to one of my favorite advances in skincare, oils are officially a thing. I recently shared some NUDE Skincare Progenius Omega Treatment Rescue Oilimage with my friend. And her ringing endorsement just confirmed how great this stuff is. It is feather-light, improves texture and really nourishes dry skin.

I like to think of Avalon Organics Hand & Body Lotion as the poor man’s Tata Harper lotion. This natural blend is so hydrating and refreshing. It replenishes and rebalances with wonderful smelling organic ingredients.

For those really stubborn spots (mine seem to be my elbows), I turn to the serious stuff. And that is none other than Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream Facial Treatment. This balm is not for the faint of heart. But I am convinced it will cure the most serious dry skin. Olive Oil, Beeswax, Honey, Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly and Propolis extract leaves skin unclogged and radiant. I also love it as an overnight mask on my face for those of you who share my dry skin (Retin-A) woes.

Winter Twins on Belle Belle Beauty

Hope you guys are having a cozy week. Mine is been full of busy days followed by evenings at home, cuddling with the pups and surfing the web. Some of my favorite finds:

Always working on being better in the kitchen and this helps: 8 Things You Should NEVER Put Down Your Garbage Disposal.

This app is perfect for the times you really need to focus.

Good friends know I don’t get really hot and bothered about music, but I adore this song. And the video is absolutely stunning. Bonus that Taylor Swift is donating proceeds to the African Parks Association of America.

Madewell just launched their Spring collection for pre-order. BTW, it is stunning.

So exciting – one of my favorite brands, Embryolisse, has launched at Target.com.

I live in a small space (not quite this small) so I adored these tips.

NARS Blush in Tribulation

My friend and I were playing with some of the Spring newness from NARS this weekend. As we opened the blush, we were a little surprised by this shade. It was sheer, rosy and luminous. And somehow, when you swipe it on your cheeks, skin looks awakened and luminous. It is a sort of psuedo-powder. I am glad I gave this unique blush a chance – a new favorite!

Available at NARSCosmetics.com.

National Bubble Bath Day

Man, this week was long. But I was happy to peace out a little early today and enjoy an afternoon with the pups getting ready for some snow tonight. And I happen to have perfect timing because today is National Bubble Bath Day. Sadly, my apartment doesn’t have a bathtub, but frankly I prefer showers. And they are always accompanied by Neutrogena Rainbath. This week must be the week of “favorites” because Neutrogena also is hands down my favorite Shower Gel. Classic and just so good.

The scent is unique – very clean but somewhat woodsy. It manages to finish so fresh and is perfect for an AM wake up. The lather is substantial but doesn’t try out my skin. And somehow, my skin always manages to look hydrated and refreshed.

Winter in Paris on Belle Belle Beauty

I have to say I’ve done a lot of Netflix binging lately. And oops… looks like it isn’t too good for my health. But everything I’ve watched is just so so good! I flew through Making a Murderer which was fantastic and disturbing. Tonight I started The Man in the High Castle and it is fantastic. I am a World War II junkie and this sci-fi series is all about a “what if” Germany and Japan won the war. While I am not generally a sci-fi fan, this has all the historical fiction and intrigue. If you share my interest, check it out on Amazon Prime. And during credits between episodes, here are some finds from around the web:

This post about sentimental jewelry touched me.

Looking for a little (beauty) drama in your life? I especially love this powder as a suggestion.

Still in shopping mode? The best time of year to purchase stuff.

I’m strongly considering re-vamping my bed situation. And this list has a couple things I am drooling over.

The Best Lipgloss: Buxom Full-On Lip Polish

The Best Lipgloss: Buxom Full-On Lip Polish on Belle Belle Beauty

I’ve been using this lip gloss for a couple years, but it was this holiday season that I finally have deemed it my absolutely favorite. I swipe this on every day, keep a tube at work and always more than one in my purse. So you could say I am committed.

First off, I notice a subtle and pleasant tingle. I don’t really notice a great deal of plumping but the minty fragrance wakes me up and refreshes me. The shine does add a voluptuous appearance. The highlight is the nourishing vitamin A and E and hydration.

Dolly is a cult favorite, but I personally love the nude Sandy. Heather – a spiced merlot – was a holiday favorite for me. Orange shades will be fab in the spring (Amber and Debbie). These are very sheer so don’t shy away from the brighter colors. Also, love their buying guide which comes in handy with 98 shade options!

Available at Sephora.
