Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

After a long hiatus and some resistance, I have returned to Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 – the clear favorite in the light coverage and tinted moisterizer realm.  I think part of me wanted to “discover” another alternative that was better.  While I love Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint,  I had to give the “fan favorite” a try.  I already know I wasn’t crazy about Armani Face Fabric Second Skin Nude Makeup. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 is not as dewy as Jouer’s version, and doesn’t have the skin treatment ingredients La Metier Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Complexe Tinted Treatment Fluid offers, but the price point and formulation makes it an appealing alternative. It is easy to blend and apply and the Bisque shade adequately takes the red out of my fair skin.  The balance in coverage is perfect for me – a polished and even look but my face still looks like my skin and not cakey foundation.

Le Métier de Beauté Precision Liquid Liner

Le Métier de Beauté is on the top of their game.  For luxury cosmetics, you can’t go wrong with this brand.  I can find counters in Austin, so the privately held company has really rolled out their products from the uber-exclusivity just a few years ago.   While the price point really demands excellence, you will get it.  The liquid liner in a pen format brings loads to the table.  It is very easy to travel with and even easier to apply.  I lay down the quill-tipped applicator along the lash line.  For a bolder eye, I just use a heavier hand and draw a dramatic line (or cat-eye).  There are some gel eyeliners that have a longer wear, but this product makes up for it in ease with no need for pots or brushes.  And if you allow the line to dry for a couple minutes, the liner is completely smudge-proof.

Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss

Chic packaging, great colors and totally affordable.  I couldn’t wait to try this gloss that seemed to offer it all. When I pulled it out this weekend, my friend thought it was Chanel because the packaging is so similar. The lighter shades are sheer but add just a touch of color.  The darker shades are relatively pigmented for a gloss, but still has great staying power.  The consistency is not sticky and really moisturizing.  I don’t need lipbalm for hours after I apply the lip-gloss even if the color has faded slightly.

My favorite colors:

  • Color 900 is a bright blush pink and appears subtle but springy
  • Color 022 has just enough orange to honor spring trends, but is neutral and sheer enough to compliment all skin tones
  • Color 008 is a very sheer rose

Philosophy Keep the Peace Skincare Collection

I usually don’t talk much about products I haven’t tried, but I felt this new collection from Philosophy was worth mentioning.  Since I have sensitive skin that is prone to redness, items from this collection are on my list to buy.  Particularly, in the hot Texas summer, my skin can get pretty rosy (nice way of saying splotchy).  I have already heard rave reviews about the soothing super soothing moisturizer for redness and sensitivity.  This could make a great nighttime cream.  The collection includes:

Deborah Lippmann Naked

My search for the perfect, nude polish is over.  Thank you, @Deborah Lippmann.  After experimenting with some high pigment colors over the past couple of years, I realized I needed a good solid break from blacks, blues and golds.  Naked is the perfect nude shade because it is polished and opaque, while complimentary to so many skin tones.  The Lippmann polishes have great staying power on me.  My current manicure is five days old with not a single chip, honestly.  Amazing, huh?

MAC Lipstick Lady Danger

Now that I am fully embracing the red lip, I turned to the uber-knowledgeable Sarah of @StyleIT for a recommendation.  She came through with the boldest, yet most complimentary shade of red I have found.  MAC Lady Danger can, at first, be a shock of color for a fair-complected girl like me.  But I can’t tell you how many compliments I got when I wore it out.  It took a dose of courage at first (and the help of MAC lipliner in Cherry), but the effect was a matte, bold lip that really worked.
