MAC Face and Body Foundation

I was tired of listening to people rave about MAC Face and Body Foundation.  I had to see what the fuss was about.  Especially after I learned it was a lightweight, water-based foundation that was insanely long-lasting.

The formula was designed to be used to even coverage on the entire body – duh, hence the name “Face and Body Foundation”.  At first, it appears really sheer, but is very buildable so you can vary your level of coverage.  It almost has the feel of a moisterizing lotion and follows up with super hydration action, so it works even on my drier skin.

Originally developed for beauty photography, this is my choice if you are being photographed and I also hear it is fabulous for weddings and events.  I think it will definitely be in my suitcase for the long, crazy days of New York Fashion Week.

This foundation is only available at MAC stores and is a great value at $32.50 for an enormous 4 fluid ounces.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color

Bruised Plum named “Best Dark Lipstick” in Allure magazine’s “Best of Beauty”

Tom Ford’s take on twelve classic lip colors – his first foray into cosmetics – instantly earned rave reviews.  Pick up a piece of his first collection before his second, a full line of cosmetics, hits stores this fall. Available at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection

Excellent quality at a super low cost. Impossible, you say.  But, Eureka! Wet n Wild offers some of the most highly-pigmented, blendable and vibrant colors just at your local drugstore.  I found mine at Walgreens for $4.99.  That’s right – eight colors for under $5 (I just had to pick up two).

I figure a budget buy is an awesome opprotunity to try out a color outside my comfort zone.   I read somewhere that blue eyeshadow – even if it is subtle – can tame red eyes.  With lots of late nights that come with a new business, I am no stranger to this problem.  So I picked up Blue Had Me at Hello:

For a more neutral option, I snatched up Pedal Pusher (someone told me purples enhance hazel eyes):

What is so super cool about the palettes is they come with instructions.  While they are super pigmented, they offer a “how to” on what they call a “sweet look”: the lightest shadow to the brow. Next “Flirty Look”, adding second color to crease.  “Dramatic Look”, adding third color in the crease. Last, “Wild Look” with the definer.  The two darkest colors in both palettes are almost too pigemented for me. I use them both as a liner.  They work really well over a liquid liner like Le Métier de Beauté Precision Liquid.

These shadows perform so well – I don’t know how they do it? For those who want a more neutral look, the palatte also comes in Comfort Zone:

Kate Somerville® Goat Milk Cream

It was a miracle, but I didn’t get sunburned once this summer (so far). But I received so many questions from readers on how to treat a sunburns – ladies, we should know better! Leave it to Kate Somerville to recommend a powerhouse cure, Goat Milk Lotion.  I enjoyed trying the lotion so much, I had to pick up the Cream.

First, this is an outstanding warm weather cream.  In case you have had your head in the sand, this summer has been BRTUAL in Texas and we are all basically melting.  So the delicate consistancy is much more palatable – in fact, I wouldn’t even call it a cream.

Second, the goat milk contains proteins, vitamins and amino acids that makes your skin feel so incredibly soft.  It also contains lactic acid, which very gently exfoliates the skin.  And which hazel that combats summer blackheads and refreshes.

The cream, like the lotion has healing properties – great to use after procedures or to heal scars.  For something so nurturing it isn’t oily or heavy – hence its #1 spot on my vanity all summer long.

Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Spoon Brush Washable Mascara

In honor of @Maybelline Great Lash Birthday Bash (40 years! Wow!) and the GreatLash Twitter party is from 7pm-9pm EST tonight, I had to mention my new, most favorite mascara.  Since you must really trash your mascara after three months of use, drugstore offerings are much more economical.  Especially when there are some serious super-power performers like, Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Spoon Brush Washable Mascara.

This mascara has the staying power of Great Lash, but with dramatic effects.  I love the way the spoon brush can lift and separate my lashes.  For evening, I like to build this mascara to mimic false lashes.  Clumping just doesn’t happen – how do they do it? But for everyday wear, this mascara adds just the perfect amount of volume while coating my lighter lashes with great color (always very black for me).

Le Métier de Beauté ‘Colour Core’ Moisture Stain Lipstick

I had yet to try the lipsticks from Le Métier de Beauté, but knowing their penchant for serious wow factor, I knew I was in for a treat.  I am wearing Madaket to warm me up for the fall, Bordeaux trend. I am so impressed with the depth of color.  Even more amazing is the richness of the product.  I didn’t know a lipstick with this much color could be so hydrating.  I put it to the test last night – through the ringer of lots of wine and sliders.  No yucky deposits on my wine glass.  And I still had color on my lips after the greasy (but tiny) burgers!

And I wouldn’t even mind some reapplication because the lipstick feels like lip balm – all sorts of goodies to hydrate and moisturize like jojoba, lanolin and shea butter.  For a powerful lip look, this lipstick will protect and improve the look of your lips and wear fantastically.  They’ve done it again!
