Admittedly, I meant to get this post up for Earth Day, but the month of April just slipped right by! Keep in mind the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizers‘ nod to a healthy Earth. Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator Line and ‘Put Some Space On Your Face’ Social Media Contest

Probably one of the most unique contests I’ve ever heard of launched today on Kiehls.com. And it is happening in conjunction with the launch of Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator Line for men – something I am seriously excited about (and could be a perfect Father’s Day gift!).

First, a little about the new products: the products are specifically designed for those with oily skin. The products leave skin matte and can minimize the appearance of pores. Using the ingredient Aerolite (based on aerogel), which was developed for use in space exploration, a gel-like formula is created with a weightless feel on skin. Because of its unique properties (it can absorb four times its own weight in oil) it leaves skin oil free for a full 24 hours. The products include:

And the moisturizer hydrates with a feather-light texture. My skin feels soft but not tight. These three are men’s products that I will be very reluctant to share!

Olay Fresh Effects {Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

It is that time of year to seek out a lighter moisturizer to keep you hydrated in the warmer weather. The new Olay Fresh Effects {Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer is just the ticket. Highlights from Youngblood Cosmetics Spring 2013

I applaud Youngblood for their truly distinctive and fresh Spring collection. From a daring eyeliner to a real God-send for those with oily skin, each addition fills a product need elegantly. I’ve been trying out three products: gel eyeliner, new lipstick and anti-mattifier. Here’s the roundup.

I can’t stop hearing about blue for the spring and I was hesitant at first. Well, I’ve come around to embrace this trend whole-heartedly – whether you go for subtle navy mascara or bold turquiose eyeliner, this look is ultimately wearable. The New Incredible Wear Gel Liner in Lagoon is for a look with more impact. I am a huge fan of gel liners as they are easy to apply and last ages. This one is no different and with safe natural ingredients, limiting irritation. The finish has a golden sheen and the iron oxide makes for a deep, rich pigment.

The new lipstick in Debalicious is a petal/bubblegum pink shade – could you get more Spring? I think not. The formula is packed with natural oils and Candelilla wax to soften and hydrate lips. While the finish is on the matte side, the formula glides on creamy. The shade will really pop on those with deeper skin tones, but is totally wearable on my light-medium complexion as well.

Attention those with shine issues: Anti-shine Mattifier is a unique and effective solution for oil control. The formula absorbs surface oil while Nigella and Pumpkin Seed oils purify and balance the skin. So your skin will be oil free throughout the day. I don’t mind the included sponge for application, but I think it is best applied with fingers to spots prone to oiliness.

Winter Skincare Tips from Simple Skincare

We are at that point in the year where are attention is starting to turn towards the festivities of Spring. Trips are being planned, spring wardrobes are being built and self-tanning is in the not-so-distant future. Yet, here we are with frigid temps. As we limp through the last couple of months of winter, it is important to keep those winter skincare practices in step. Alas, they are the only way to radiant, summer skin. Here are three tips that can help both those with oily and dry skin from Simple Skincare:

NUMBER 1: So often when we see dry, flaky skin, we want to over moisturize. But what your skin actually needs is some tender exfoliation! The removal of dead, dull skin will allow healthy skin underneath to show itself. But when skin is suffering, so many exfoliators can be on the harsh side. Laura Mercier Oil-Free Supreme Foundation

I’ve definitely covered loads of foundation options for those of you with dry skin like me (look here, here and here). But this one is for all those with oiler skin. Laura Mercier has just come out with new oil-free foundation that gives skin the ultimate coverage, comfort and wear for a flawless complexion.

Here’s what she promised (and delivered):

Oil-free, non-drying, lightweight formula glides on evenly on to skin and does not settle into fine lines.
Visibly minimizes the appearance of pores for smoother skin.
Buildable coverage, from moderate to full, evens skin tone.
Provides a soft matte finish.
Longwearing formula (lasts up to 8 hours) feels lightweight and comfortable on skin.
Silicone-free, fragrance-free, non-greasy.

The formula is excellent – smooth, great staying power and even, matte finish. My only caveat is make sure you actually do have oily skin. This will only play nice with truly oily skin. My guinea pig, Corey, assured me she had oily skin but it was even drying for her. But when I tried it on my early-twenties buddy with the right complexion, the Oil-Free Supreme Foundation really shined. I love this for younger skin with acne problems. The addition of aloe, green tea, and silica sooths, heals and corrects. Vitamin A will also help correct imperfections. And Vitamin E hydrates without a greasy finish.

The oil-free foundation hits counters this month and is available in 12 shades: Porcelain Ivory, Blush Ivory, Warm Ivory, Sunny Beige, Vanilla Beige, Golden Beige, Shell Beige, Tawny Beige, Honey Beige, Suntan Beige, Toffee Bronze, Rich Sienna).
