Wednesday On The Web

Wednesday On The Web on Belle Belle Beauty

I think I have the opposite of seasonal affect disorder sometime. While the warmer weather and brighter makeup shades have me slightly giddy, I do mourn the end of holiday season and layered, cozy outfits. We had a cold snap on Monday (and even some snow) and I relished every minute of it. But ya know… spring is here to stay so I took the opportunity of Shopbop’s Friends and Family sale to stock up on some warm weather dresses and sandals (see my picks below).

As my 35th birthday approaches this summer, I realize that I can’t fight my own personal style. You won’t find me in floral prints or loads of pastels. I will always love Jill Sander, All Saints and Alexander Wang. Architectural basics and soft fabrics win me over every single time. And while I’ll play around with makeup, I also have found personal style there too – soft bronzer, black eyeliner and a nude lip. While I have finally mastered the self-blowout, I still can’t resist an up-do just like the one above.

I never dread a birthday (at least not yet), and there is something new to appreciate every single year. So while we continue to reinvent ourselves, I am reminded to celebrate landmarks and each of our unique choices. Please don’t miss Leandra’s post about why she doesn’t wear makeup – it really struck a cord (A thoughtful discussion about why women don’t always wear makeup). And at the same time, seize the day and pick up a new treat during Friends and Family season! Lots of sales to be found here:

KareCo Professional Brushes

KareCo Professional Brushes on Belle Belle Beauty

Ever since learning to blow out my hair last summer, I’ve been pretty thrilled with my Spornette Prego Ceramic Styling Brush. I love the way the brush heats up, smooths my hair and finishes with the perfect bend. But I am always open to try out new beauty products – duh – and especially those that are found easily at great prices.

But don’t expect the budget brushes from KareCo to be cheap or unprofessional. Their Thermal Round Brushes have a specially designed dome that keeps heat moving throughout the brush. This lends to faster drying and more hold. I’ve found that my hair moves through the bristles slightly easier with the KareCo brushes too.

But that isn’t all this little dome does – it helps grasp hair at the curve of the brush keeping strands in the brush and not tangling or ending up around the handle. Hair stays in the brush from root to end so you aren’t repeating sections of hair should they slip. No wonder these are so well designed – they were once only available to professionals but they now can be found at Walmart. I love the 2″ inch barrel for more bend and the 3″ barrel for sleek, shiny strands.

Both sold at Walmart for $12.97 each.

Latest and Greatest from Suave

Latest and Greatest from Suave on Belle Belle Beauty

Suave has emerged as one of my favorite drugstore brands. I used to turn up my nose at their ultra-low priced goods, but as I have worked my way through their product line up, I’ve discovered more than one gem – can we talk about their dry shampoo?!? And now they are really knocking my socks off with a huge new lineup of hair and body launches this month.

Get ready… here is the lineup and some of my thoughts on things I got to take a sneak peek of:

  • Suave Professionals® Natural Infusion Moisturizing Light Oil Spray with Macadamia Oil – love this lightweight spray that gives my hair shine and a smooth, sleek finish plus it smells amazing
  • Suave Professionals® Natural Infusion Anti-Breakage Shampoo and Conditioner with Awapuhi Ginger – I love that this fortifies my hair and the cozy tropical scent transports me to warmer months
  • Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion Weightless Dry Shampoo – just like my adored original formula, this dry shampoo immediately absorbs oil but keeps hair soft and touchable
  • Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion Dry Body Oil Spray – seriously saving my dry winter skin with a warm fragrance and quick absorption
  • Suave Professionals® Visible Glow Self-Tanning Body Lotion – this stuff helps out with my winter pallor and unlike the Jergens formula, I am getting no scent from this whatsoever
  • Suave Naturals® Creamy Almond Verbena Body Wash – I am loving the almond scent and the milk proteins keeps skin hydrated and healthy
  • Suave® Almond Verbena Clinical Protection PROsolid™ – I prefer the clinical protection to stay ultra-safe and love the gentle scent and long-lasting protection

And on my shopping list but haven’t tried out yet:

  • Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion Body Lotion
  • Suave Professionals® Natural Infusion All Day Body Leave-In Foam with Seaweed
  • Suave Professionals® Natural Infusion Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner with Macadamia Oil
  • Suave Professionals® Natural Infusion All Day Body Shampoo and Conditioner with Seaweed
  • Suave Professionals® Split End Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Suave Professionals® Keratin InfusionTM Color Care Dry Shampoo
  • Suave Naturals® Almond Verbena 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner

Lovely Links and Quite The Benchmark

Lovely Links and Quite The Benchmark on Belle Belle Beauty

I had these grand plans to do a fabulous 1000th post. I had it written in my calendar and a note on my desk. Then… you know what happened? I blew right past it. Story of my week. So, with this post, I’d like to celebrate my 1001st post! Can you believe it? That’s a lot of blogging. To celebrate, I’d like to share this stunning pic of Felicity Jones – I can’t seem to get over those bangs. I am seriously itching for a hair change – I might have almost run out for an at-home ombre hair color kit today. But I resisted. I might just make it happen tomorrow.

On a personal note, I am glad to hit this milestone this week. And TGTF – Thank God Tomorrow is Friday. Let’s turn the corner. I am sick of hearing about how my beloved Broncos blew it on Sunday. So what do you say? Let’s have an early “cheers to the weekend!” Here are some finds from around the internet I found while trolling this week:

A poignant post and must read that reminded me of the important things and provided a perspective on death.

This has me striving to make lemon and water a part of my daily routine.

Baffled about yoga types like me? Check this out.

Tomorrow, I’ll have a Valentine’s Day gift guide TV segment and blog post. I am all about the “to me, from me” gifts this year. I think I might splurge on this gem from Bauble Bar. They are offering 15% off with code SELFLOVE15.

Through today, THEOUTNET.COM is offering free shipping when you spend $250 or more with code FEBFREESHIP and through the weekend they are offering an addition 40% off! These pumps have me quite tempted – love the shade.

70% off site wide at Saks Off 5th (no code needed) through 2/11.

Receive 20% off at Stila Cosmetics with code 20OFF through 2/28.

40% off contemporary at Neiman Marcus. Loving these army green jeans.

And don’t forget about the additional markdowns at Shopbop! Loving this strapless dress for spring.

And a little quote that I can’t seem to find the origin of that I am keeping in mind this week:

A wise person once said …There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good. So love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.

Brand Spotlight: Focus Hair Care

Brand Spotlight: Focus Hair Care on Belle Belle Beauty

Every once and a while, I find a niche beauty brand that really blows my socks off. Major heads-up to those dealing with thinning hair. Honestly, the ugly truth from me is that not only do I suffer from breakage and thinning hair thanks to years of wearing buns but I also suffer from dry scalp. Gross. While I have found shampoos and conditioners that can heal dry ends, they leave my hair flat. Other shampoos heal my scalp, but leave my hair straw-like. Leave it to a company using ingredients from Mother Nature to find something that does it all.
