The Fall Eye by Laura Mercier

The Fall Eye by Laura Mercier // Belle Belle Beauty

Look no further than Laura Mercier’s fall collection to make for the perfect eye! I love that clean look of a lined eye with thick and voluminous lashes. If done right, you can skip eyeshadow all together! These three gems from the collection will be my go-to into the fall months for such a sleek and classic look.

Dare I say I love my ‘Eye Canvas’ Eye Foundation better than my beloved MAC Paint Pot in Painterly. I think I just might! I even like the bare look of Eye Canvas with these tools for a bold liner and lashes. While the formula has great coverage and neutralizes the eye perfectly, work quickly because it can dry down. No creases or smudging even with the boldest looks! And worn alone, it has the perfect matte and natural finish. I’ve been wearing EC-2 which sometimes can look a little yellow, but does a great job of neutralizing the redness in my lids.

I love a great Kohl Liner and I’ve been mourning my Guerlain ‘Terracotta – Terra Inca’ Khôl Kajal for quite some time. Well lucky me because the new Laura Mercier Supreme Black Kohl Eye Liner just happened to land on my desk. This version is slightly more creamy, but still has that amazing pigment. It easily slides on and provides that perfect inky black definition.

Unlike the mascara yesterday on the blog, the ‘Faux Lash’ Mascara has a dramatic and fluffy traditional brush. Look no further if you want extreme volume and drama. The waxed-based formula never becomes crusty or firm on my lashes. And I still manage to avoid fall out.  The most brilliant part of this mascara is the dual sided brush – I almost didn’t notice at first. But one edge of the brush has shorter bristles, perfect for lower lashes.

For my current favorite eye look, I start with ‘Eye Canvas’ Eye Foundation to give an even and neutral lid. Then I line my eyes with the Kohl Eye Liner by holding it between my lashes and moving outward. If needed, I add some extra pigment to the waterline on my lower lashes. If I am going for a more dramatic look, I add a thin (or thick) line just above my upper lashes. I finish with a double coat of the ‘Faux Lash’ Mascara for big and extreme definition. Done!

I'm On POPSUGAR Beauty! // Belle Belle Beauty

Talk about a great day yesterday! Not only did I visit FOX23’s Great Day Green Country. I was interviewed by the public television station here, OETA, about living in my beloved Downtown Tulsa. And it is such an honor to be the first POPSUGAR Select beauty blogger to become published on POPSUGAR Beauty (aka bellasugar.com, a long long long time favorite site of mine)! Make sure you head over to check out the post. I can’t wait to hear what you think about A Bridal Shower Makeup Look That Takes the Cake. Cheers!

Blake Lively and NARS at Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala 2013

blake lively makeup

After sifting through some beautiful and other more “interesting” looks from last night’s Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala, I am left with a true respect for artistry. While some of the looks I found frankly unattractive, I appreciated the punk theme inspired by the Met’s newest exhibit, PUNK: Chaos to Couture. Makeup artists were really allowed to show creativity and unique styles, albeit some not really great for everyday wear. One look I wouldn’t hesitate to try for an evening out is is Blake Lively’s.

"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Gala

NARS and celebrity makeup artist Elaine Offers was first inspired by “Blake’s signature approach: luminous beautiful skin.” The more dramatic and serious eye was a “nod to the punk theme”. Thanks to her layered and gauzy skirt, the overall look is “both glamorous and edgy.”

I admit I have some catching up to do on Girls, the drama on HBO staring four twenty-somethings living in NYC. But I am a big fan of the show. The plot is sassy and smart and real. After watching some of season one, I fell in love with Allison Williams, daughter of NBC Nightly news anchor Brian Williams. She has classic beauty and the smarts to be an actor taken very seriously with tremendous talent.

At Wednesday night’s Girls season two premier, Celebrity Makeup Artist Julie Harris for CARGO Cosmetics worked to compliment Allison’s Altuzarra bustier top.

  • Julie first applied a thin layer of the CARGO Liquid Foundation, which is a great oil-free foundation, in shade F-20 to Allison’s flawless skin in order to add a little glow for the red carpet
  • She then applied a touch of the CARGO OneBaseTM to highlight and brighten under the eyes
  • Julie wanted to bring out the blue in Allison’s eyes so she applied a gold shimmer shadow all over the lid and a slightly deeper gold shade in the crease and right below the lower lash line using the CARGO Color Palette in Baja
  • To emphasize Allison’s beautiful lashes, Julie applied the CARGO High Pigment Pencil in Black along the water line and TexasLiner (liquid liner with a felt tip – available this spring) along the top and bottom lashes before applying two coats of mascara with the CARGO TexasLash Mascara in Black for maximum volume and impact
  • Using the CARGO Bronzer in Medium, Julie focused on the high points of Allison’s face (the forehead, the temples, cheekbones, chin and down the sides of her neck) to give skin warmth
  • Julie then applied CARGO Blush in Cannes to the apples of her cheeks to create a fresh glow along with the CARGO ColorStick in Champagne on the brow bones and cheekbones to highlight while also adding a light shimmer
  • She also lightly dusted the CARGO blu_ray™ Blush/Highlighter in Pink Shimmer to the top of cheeks and up to the temples, creating a dewy effect to go with the shimmery eye
  • Lastly, Julie kept Allison’s lips soft with CARGO Lip Gloss in Fresno, a pretty pink/nude gloss
