Jet Set Favorites from around the Globe on FOX23's Tulsa Live on Belle Belle Beauty

Summer is the time for those dream trips, often abroad. Even if we don’t have one planned, we might be daydreaming about being on a beach in Greece or strolling the Parisian avenues. Without leaving our vanities, we can bring the exotic into our lives via beauty. So many of the international beauty staples have withstood the test of time, making them a must-have. This morning on Tulsa Live (formally Great Day Green Country), I shared some of my favorites to transport me to travel hotspots:

I can’t help but start off with my favorite destination, France. And what is more French than Caudalie, a skin care line built upon the benefits of Grape-seed Polyphenols, the most powerful anti-oxidants in the plant world. Caudalie Polyphenol c15 Overnight Detox Oil is one of the newest from the brand and is also made in France. The team has coupled the anti-oxidants with stabilized Vitamin C to block free-radicals. The dry oil soaks in and regenerates skin while you sleep. Plus, the smell will lull you to snoozeville with Carrot, Lavender, and White Sandalwood ($52).

Another dream location I hope to visit one day is the Dead Sea, a natural phenomenon I have always been fascinated with. No wonder I love AHAVA, a collection that utilizes minerals found in the Dead Sea in every single product. AHAVA Natural Dead Sea Mud transports that special mineral-rich mud right to your shower. The mud is harvested from the banks where clay is packed with an ultra-high concentration of minerals that can foster healthy looking skin. Excess oil, dead skin and toxins are whisked away while the mud stimulates circulation and improves skin tone. And calling all athletes and workaholics: this mud treatment can also help with stress and muscle aches. Just dirty up and spread all over your body, leave on for 15 minutes and rinse ($15).

Asia is still on my bucket list (if you don’t count my couple days in the part of Turkey that lies on the continent). My cousin has a passion for Japan and I think it has rubbed off on me. After all, Japan lays claim one of the great skin care cultures. One reason could be the availability of Wakame, a seaweed that grows along the coast of Japan and is often said to be the reason why Japanese women have youthful skin even into old age. H2O Plus Face Oasis CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PA +++ contains a wakame compound that offers tons of anti-aging properties including a natural sunscreen and protection against the loss of Hyaluronic Acid. While CC creams generally have heavier coverage in my experience, this version is sheer to medium coverage and can brighten skin without being heavy. Bonus points for the inclusion of chemical free sunscreen ($35). Note: this line flies under the radar but is fabulous for relatively affordable skin care.

And we couldn’t round up this virtual world tour without a couple of stops in Africa. It seems that African ingredients are having somewhat of a moment in the beauty industry. First up is the super-popular Argan Oil from the Argan Tree of Morocco. I know we all have seen it on shelves, but what exactly is Argan Oil? The Berber people of Morocco discovered the culinary, cosmetics and medicinal benefits of Argan Oil. Unroasted Argan Oil is traditionally used as a treatment for skin diseases. In cosmetics, Argan Oil is advocated as moisturizing oil, working against flaky skin as well as nourishing and fortifying the hair. L’Oreal harnessed Argan’s nourishing benefits to heal dull, dry and damaged hair with Oleo Therapy. The Oleo Therapy collection is sulfate-free and contain six flower oils to provide nutrition and hydration to strands ($6.99 – 12.99).

Lastly, let’s head South to South Africa for another oil that has been part of beauty rituals for centuries. Marula fruit fates back as far as 10,000 BC. No wonder since its miracle oil can protect skin in severe climates. Marula Oil is packed with antioxidants and omega-9 fatty acids which can fight free radicals, prevent water loss and improve elasticity. Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Cream is a nutritional supplement that packs a hydration punch and works as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Expect renewed skin and a more youthful appearance. I love this cream after a ski day or a pool afternoon. It even calms my red flush after a run and can be used on the face and body ($265).

Father’s Day Gift Guide on FOX23’s Great Day Green Country

Father's Day Gift Guide on FOX23's Great Day Green Country on Belle Belle Beauty

The girls don’t always have all the beauty fun. For Father’s Day, there are plenty of grooming and fragrance gift ideas that will have any man feel pampered. I am on Great Day Green Country this morning sharing my favorites for gifting this Sunday that will please all dads from gadget lovers to the busy executive to the sporty outdoors man.

Looking for a way to spruce up his bathroom routine? Look no further than Anthony Father’s Day Survival Kit for the dad in your life. Housed in a great looking toiletries bag, you’ll find Glycolic Facial Cleanser, Shave Cream, All Purpose Facial Moisturizer, Instant Fix Oil Control and Wake Up Call. Everything is perfectly suited for travel and contains all that any man would need. Note: Wake Up Call, a hydrating treatment gel, is one my favorite men’s products I’ve come across to date.

Got a gadget lover in your life? I gave my father a Clarisonic a couple years back and he hasn’t stopped singing its praises. The Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush comes in a masculine grey shade (also with a travel case and cleanser). Ideal for pre-shave, it gives a deep clean and preps for a closer and more comfortable shave.

There is nothing harder than selecting a fragrance for someone – it is such a personal choice. But FragranceNet.com has rounded up a handful of colognes that match your dad’s unique personality. One of these five are sure to please your pops:

  • The Dapper Dad: Tom Ford Noir has notes of bergamot, violet flower, leather, and black pepper – the ultimate in sophistication.
  • The Macho-Dad: Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf has unique notes including chilli and saffron combined with leather, tobacco, vetiver and pink pepper. This is a lightweight, woodsy scent.
  • The Preppy Dad: Polo Ralph Lauren Blue Sport is a timeless classic with notes of green apples, mint, mandarin, sage and ginger.
  • The Casual Dad: F By Ferragamo Free Time Cologne is perfect for a laid back man with its notes of
lemon, ginger, pink pepper, cardamom and vetiver.
  • The Sporty Dad: The One Sport Cologne by Dolce & Gabbana has an aquatic feel that is both casual and athletic with notes of rosemary, wood, musk and patchouli.

Looking for a gift set? One of my favorite classic colognes is Ralph Lauren Fragrances Polo Red and their 3-Piece Father’s Day Gift Set is perfect for the energitic dad on the go. Included is Eau De Toilette, After Shave Balm and deodorant. Notes include: red saffron, red grapefruit and red cedar.

“Summer-ize” Your Makeup Routine On FOX23’s Great Day Green Country

"Summer-ize" Your Makeup Routine On FOX23's Great Day Green Country on Belle Belle Beauty

There are so many factors that play into changing up our makeup routine as the months warm up. Depending on where you live, humidity can play a huge factor. And to an even greater degree, lifestyle changes. We spend our summer evenings wearing breezy maxi dresses and a messy bun. This calls for a tone down in makeup (with some glowy and bronzy wattage).

Personally, I like switching to a more subtle eye and using a few more liquid formulations. My favorite of these liquid gems actually come from a brand new line from Perricone MD that I am wild about. Launched just this month, Perricone MD No Makeup Skincare restores skin’s health, protects from environmental factors and uses pigments to enhance facial architecture. This makeup doesn’t cake on coverage but adds radiance. My favorite of the bunch is the new No Foundation Foundation Serum which just subtly adds pigment with a suede finish and nourishing formula. No Mascara Mascara contains anti-aging lash treatment. And No Lipstick Lipstick not only smells amazing but adds a natural color with SPF 15.

If you are anything like me, you’ll log some serious pool time (with lots of SPF of course). Some days, we proceed immediately to a BBQ dinner or casual Mexican fare straight from the pool. To add just a bit of glam, I love the newest of lip formulas – Lip Crayons. Boots No. 7 Lip Crayons not only offer a budget price point but also a conditioning shine. I love Berry to compliment post-pool sun-kissed tan.

I can’t really think of a summer color collection that does glowy bronze better than NARS. A new launch coupled with a newly discovered classic is now a permanent staple in my rotation. First, I admit to being a Laguna devotee. But I was gently coaxed to try the slightly slightly deeper and more golden Casino and I am smitten. There is something about the formula that is so authentically bronzed that I can quickly sweep over my cheekbones, temples and nose and hit the road. And talk about a launch with a splash from their summer ‘Adult Swim’ collection: Hot Sand Illuminator is a limited edition peach champagne liquid that provides a shimmery blush. I also love to use it on brow bones and if you are feeling indulgent, add a dab to your decolletage.

Who said dark polish is only for cooler months. This summer, change things up with inky digits but swap out vampy blacks and browns for navys like Essie’s After School Boy Blazer or a deep purple like Sally Hansen Vanity Flare. If you are a diehard light shade buff, opt for a classic white (my current choice is Deborah Lippmann in Amazing Grace).

What I Wore

I’m thinking about changing things up when it comes to posting my weekly TV segment clips. I wanted to share some specific favorites that I wore while on the show. You can find yesterday’s segment here (please excuse my friend and host, KC, being scary with the illuMask Anti-Acne Light Therapy Mask – haha) and details about my outfit below:

Sutton Necklace in Blue/Green on Belle Belle Beauty

First and foremost, I am loving my new Stella & Dot goodies. My necklace was the Sutton in Blue/Green. I love the layers. One chain comes off to be worn alone. But all the strands together were perfect with my cobalt shirt.

Reverie Chandelier Earrings on Belle Belle Beauty

I love great statement earrings for television. The Reverie Chandelier Earrings were monotone but filled with detail. The worn gold finish makes them perfect for summer – I can’t wait to wear this throughout the warmer season.

My outfit details: Rag & Bone The Legging JeansPleione Mixed Media Roll Sleeve Top, Manolo Blahnik BB Pointed-Toe Pump and Soft Joie Blazer. Shop The Outfit:

And we can’t end without some sale announcements:

Anthropologie is having a great sale on dinnerware!

Club Monaco is offering 50% off clearance items with code SPRING50.

Friends and Family is happening at DVF – get 25% off with code SPRING25 through tomorrow.

And last but not least, J. Crew has an extra 50% off sale items with code FRESHSALE.

Go Go Gadget Beauty on FOX23’s Great Day Green Country

Go Go Gadget Beauty on FOX23's Great Day Green Country on Belle Belle Beauty

After a little break last week, I’m back on FOX23’s Great Day Green Country this AM. This time – being a gadget nerd myself – I am so excited to be talking about all the new tools out there to ensure summer beauty. One reason I love this industry so much is all of the technological innovation, so this subject really gets me excited. Four favorite new gadgets on the market:

Clarisonic Pedi Sonic Foot Transformation

I’ll be honest… my feet are not ready for summer. And I have had my eye on this device for months. As a fan of the original Clarisonic (hope everyone reading this already is on the bandwagon), I knew Clarisonic would do well with a foot version. The handle comes with two heads, a Pedi Smoothing Disc and a Wet/Dry Buffing Brush Head. While you can use this in the shower, I find this works best on dry skin. The exception is the Pedi-Buff, perfect for gentle removal of dead skin. The Pedi Balm is super hydrating. And the Pedi-Boost amps up the process of getting rid of dry skin. Every day, my feet are more and more pool ready.

GO SMiLE Sonic Blue Teeth Whitening System

GO SMiLE has long been my choice to whiten teeth and their latest and greatest is really taking it a step further. The brush has a LED sonic action that can increase whitening efficiency, kill bacteria and reduce plaque. You can use the brush with your regular toothbrush or new GO SMiLE Teeth Whitening Gel. The best part? This replaces your regular brushing so you don’t have that annoying second step. Huge when you are lazy like me in the evenings.

bliss fabulips ‘pout’-o-matic

Has been in my shower for a month or so. At first, I was nervous if the rotation was going to be too rough on delicate lips. But the soft massaging head actually buffs away without irritation. Also helpful is using it with bliss’ fabulips sugar lip scrub which has a huge nourishing effect. Bottom line: my bold lip colors look better and I am more apt to care for my lips during shower time.

illuMask Anti-Acne Light Therapy Mask

One of the best ways to fight acne is to use LED light therapy. Usually used during facials, the blue and red light fights inflammation and kills bacteria. But now available for at home use, this tool uses a combo of wavelengths to clear skin. Just use once daily for thirty days. Yeah, you look kinda silly. But clearer, smoother skin is worth it right? Say goodbye to those breakouts!

Spring Prep Skin Care On FOX23’s Great Day Green Country

spring skin care

We can now officially say spring has sprung and with that comes the reality that swimsuit/shorts/tank top season is just weeks away. Not only am I hitting the gym a little harder, but I am also changing up my skin care game. With a couple tweaks, we can have clear, radiant skin and sandal-ready feet.

First up, make sure to extend your regular skin care routine to hands, neck and decolletage. This goes for year-round but is even more important as the sun rays intensify. My favorite summertime SPF is Kate Somerville Daily Deflector Moisturizer. It is lightweight and works well from the hairline down the chest. Because it is only SPF 20, make sure to amp up protection if you are spending large amounts of time outside.

Step back on products that are heavy or full of emollients. That rich cream might soothe dry winter skin but isn’t best for warmer months. Perricone MD Chia Serum (covered yesterday here) actually works for light hydration. And it can be used over makeup for that warm, dewy glow.

All those pore clogging sunscreens and sweaty weather don’t only encourage acne on the face. Breakouts on the back and chest can be the worst during pool season. Mario Badescu Special Cleansing Lotion “O” is alcohol-free and soothes sensitive skin. Mild witch hazel formula removes pore clogging debris. Just swipe on post-shower with a cotton ball. The cooling effect is especially pleasant on a hot day.

Not only will exfoliation help with pore-clogging and other breakout causing congestion, but they will also reveal radiant and even skin. For those who look to organic solutions, check out Avalon Organics Exfoliating Enzyme Scrub that uses both fruit enzymes and finely ground walnut shell for a calming exfoliation. New from St. Ives, Even & Bright Pink Lemon & Mandarin Orange Scrub smells like summer and doesn’t cause redness. I use this as a body wash for a deep clean.

Don’t neglect the tootsies. AmLactin Foot Cream is like regular foot cream on steroids. AHAs help smooth and repair callused and dry skin. Just make sure to use sunscreen on the oft-neglected feet because the active ingredients can make them more susceptible to sun damage. The lotion is quickly absorbed but I still like to apply at night and wear socks to get a deep treatment. There is a very slight medicinal scent.
