NARS Fall Sneak Peek: Eye Paints

NARS Fall Sneak Peek: Eye Paints // Belle Belle Beauty

Yet another fun and innovative release from NARS for Fall! These Eye Paints are just in time for that season where our looks get deeper and bolder. These high pigment products are advertised as both eyeliner and eyeshadow. I was sure I would only be using them to line, but I am loving these for a wash of color too!

NARS Fall Sneak Peek: Eye Paints // Belle Belle Beauty

Unlike other gel liners, these guys are weightless and smooth to apply. I’ve been using the Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush to use these as a liner, but NARS is also offering a new Angled Eyeliner Brush #38 that is on my wish list. I use my finger or a fluffy eyeshadow brush like this one to get pigment from my lid to crease. Then blending upwards with a clean finger so there is no harsh line.

Particularly unique is Eye Paints’ genuine staying power. Even along the waterline, I get all-night wear and as a shadow, the pigment stays long and strong. NARS is offering the Eye Paints in 10 colors from classic to modern to edgy. I love Black Valley as a liner and both Mesopotamia and Ubangi make for great shadows.

AVON Mega Effects Mascara

AVON Mega Effects Mascara // Belle Belle Beauty

Ready to fill your mind with wonder, awe and maybe a little bewilderment? The Internet has been abuzz with the newest mascara launch from Avon. And naturally, I had to know all about it (read: get my paws on one of these monsters).

Don’t be scared, my beauties. Be excited. Once you get the hang of application, you will be smitten with the long-lasting, dense and dramatic lashes. First, a little instruction. Pop open the cover and wiggle the tab to move the brush through the formula. Remove the brush.

I like using the natural shape of the brush to first coat the major/center section of my lashes. I’ve found this helps separate and lift. Then, letting the brush self-adjust, I move to get the inner lashes and outer lashes. What pleases me most is the consistent application of product from root to tip.

My only beef (if you call it a beef) is that this stuff stays on FOREVER. It takes a bit of elbow grease for me to remove. But I love that it stood up to a day at the pool last weekend. The larger amount of product deposited results in a high-volume application. I like combing through mine afterwards for an even more doll-like effect.

This is sure to be an iconic mascara and is definitely worth picking up, especially for 10 bucks! Make sure you get on the waiting list here!

mybody Calm After The Storm Soothing + De-Puffing Eye Cream

myBODY Calm After the Storm

I fell hard for a little skin care company called mybody last summer. Their thoughtful collection of skin care products spoke to the science nerd in me. mybody was founded by a makeup artist, the founder of Philosophy and an experienced retail maven. Their pedigree is balanced with a heavy focus on technology, and the scientific focus shines through in their products.

Calm After the Storm is just what the doctor ordered. With the change in seasons, I am welcoming the most annoying of allergies. With that comes the dreaded puffy eyes. Calm After the Storm offers a gentle and hydrating cream that goes after circles and puffiness with a legion of active ingredients.

The highlight for me is the cooling applicator that in itself can improve the look on my eyes. I work in the cream for a good 10-20 seconds and then use a clean finger to smooth in any excess until absorbed. It is so gentle, I don’t hesitate using it on my eyelids as well.  Here’s the lineup of key ingredients – told you this line was science oriented!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Covet Waterproof Eyeliners

Anastasia Beverly Hills Covet Waterproof Eyeliners // Belle Belle Beauty

I’m going to keep this one short and sweet. My requirements for eyeliners are as follows:

  • Waterproof
  • Built in sharpener
  • Velvety, creamy texture
  • Precise
  • Varied shades
  • Smudge-proof

Anastasia Beverly Hills Covet Waterproof Eyeliners // Belle Belle Beauty

This newest eyeliner from Anastasia ticks all the boxes. They developed an unusually rich, pigmented liner with great shades. Pixiwoo is also a fan of these liners and I love their technique for using them: apply a thin line and then use a MAC 266 brush to wing out and perfect the line. Or wiggle the pencil into the lashes for a tight-lined look. Admittedly, it doesn’t work great on the waterline (for this try this one), but for a great cat eye that is not going anywhere for the day or evening, this is a winner.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Covet Waterproof Eyeliner is available at Ulta, Nordstrom and www.Anastasia.net,  $19

Maybelline New York The Rocket by Volum’Express Mascara

Maybelline New York The Rocket by Volum’Express Mascara // Belle Belle Beauty

I have mascara attention deficit disorder. Frankly, I am trying something different in the interest of reporting and reviewing. But I am also on that quest for a great drugstore mascara. Guys, I think Maybelline’s Rocket is my holy grail right now.

The Rocket builds volume right from the first application. The glossy black formula thickens each last from root to tip with a unique gellant formula. While my lashes are long, they can be thin – so this is the precise effect I’m chasing after. But as the lashes build up volume, the finish still looks natural and not clumpy.

Now, plastic brushes aren’t my favorite. For some reason they don’t feel as good going on as a big, fluffy natural brush. But this guy has a rigid core, allowing me to really get at the root of each lash. The tiny, short bristles are what minimize clumping. I guess I need to start giving these plastic brushes a chance.

During the day, I’ve been sticking to one coat. In the evening, I am able to amp up the application for an almost doll-like effect. Either way, I get zero fallout. I’ve been using Blackest Black (non-waterproof). Next time you’re at your drugstore, I highly suggest snagging one of these. Or, you can order one here for $6.29.

Le Metier de Beaute Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo

Le Metier de Beaute Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo // Belle Belle Beauty

I had an unfortunate run in with some tears last night. It’s okay – we all need a good cry sometimes, right? But day after puffiness is NOT cute. Le Métier de Beauté to the rescue.

Well, we know Le Métier de Beauté does a mask right (see here). Their most recent skin care release is a mask dedicated just for the eyes. Where have you been all my life?? This sweet little package is perfect for post-emotional puffiness. It also fights the signs of aging and gives the skin an immediate “more awake” look.

The translucent (read: you can use it anywhere) mask delivers hydration while also instantly cooling and calming. The hydration plumps out those wrinkles, while the chilly gel-like pads soothe out redness and eliminate any puffiness. I also saw dramatic improvement in my dark circles.

These masks are loaded with active moisturizers so carefully open the package on a flat surface. Pre-cool in the fridge if you want a greater chilling effect. The applications stick right on the skin without tugging – feeling quite delightful. You can use these daily if you want – wouldn’t that be wonderful? Follow up after use with your regular eye cream. I think these would be ideal post a long plane flight.

If you are interested in the Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo, you can find it at Neiman Marcus Northpark. There is a prize for the blogger who refers the most customers and if I win, there is something in it for you! I’ll do my own giveaway of one of my Le Métier de Beauté favorites from my personal collection. Call Patrice, the At-counter Product Specialist at 214-363-8311 or swing by the counter.
